Kamachi, Kamachi, Kamachi... man does this guy have energy...
Now first off, I don't think the guy's a genius, he's definitely smart but I wouldn't call him a master writer, however I don't find him to be average either. Simply put, they guy can really make some fun entertainment, and while his works aren't perfect, I can never feel as though he can be faulted for not giving a crap. If there is ANYTHING that's evident in his works, its that he DEFINITELY cares about what he's writing. And I like that in a writer/artist/director etc.

I will say, Kazuma Kamachi has got to be one of the most interesting people I've ever met.
Before I read index, I never stopped to think just how exactly did an author, storywriter, or director came up with their works. I just took what they said at face value.
And then I read all of Index. Never before have I been moved by such a masterpiece. As an aspiring writer myself, I could not believe how in-depth the story is. The characters, their metaphors, their relationships. It's amazing how one not only thinks of a plotline, but the effects on the universe itself.
And speaking of amazing metaphors, the one that comes to mind is the 7 Level 5's of Academy city. In all seriousness, how they all relate is interesting, not to mention that where they are placed is not by Power, but by usefulness. the top 2 represent Destruction and Regeneration. #3 being weaker than #4, but having more control. The #6, an illusionist who's never BEEN SEEN in 29 novels. and the Wildcard #7. I have to commend you on this one Kazuma.
In Short, I've never been so inspired by such an author, and he's probably going to be one who goes down in history for "greatest story universe created. ever."

Judging from his work, I think this guy went into a Christian Catholic school and has a very very good academic performance wherein you can label him as a genius. Awesome, so awesome. Genius Indeed.

Calling someone a Genius and thinking him flawless are two different things. Yes I do enjoy his works, but I cannot deny that he has made some bad calls and questionable directions.
I still think he has two very real talent that sets him apart from most writers; First, is his limitless spring of ideas- He is the kind of guy that when he looks at anything in the world, his brain never stop questioning things and wondering how he could use it in his stories. It's every authors dream to never run out of ideas to write.
His second is his flexibility and willingness to write almost any kind of genre- We have all seen this in Index, never has there been an author that can conform to two very distinct type of setting while effortlessly switching back and forth between them. But when he wrote [A Simple Survey], I was impressed by the amount of variety of the short stories... He was even able to write mystery-thrillers in the veins of the Twilight Zone!

Really love Kamachi!!!
But yeah I really liked the Daihaseisai arc it was just the end with the fireworks that was the problem, though looking at it from a different way it was a beautiful end

i think he's a genius. i've got two words for those who don't believe it.
vector change. it's the techincally-non-broken-yet-broken superpower everyone never knew they wanted.
he's the Oda of the light novel world. incredible world-building.

I have to agree with \/ \/ \/ below me. He isn't a GENIUS... But he knows how to entertain!
It's not like Index is unoriginal, but it's nothing new. New: ESPers enemies against magicians in a futuristic/modern world. It's awesome, if you ask me, and as far as shounen anime goes, it's a lot better than most the "best" of them... In my opinion: you've seen one (or two or three) shounen animes, you've seen 'em all (no offense to shounenphiles).
I guess... I'm trying to say that Index is a breath of fresh air in the shounen genre. I don't even like reading books, but I love reading the Index series.
Welp, I'll shut up now ;)

I wouldn't say that he is is such a genius… he uses a lot of regular tropes and clichés in a non-subversive way, his writing is full of contrivances and cop-outs (Daihaseisai), and some times it is really remarkably well researched, like with the way the memory works or the legend of Simon Magus and why no magician uses magical flight if he can help it, and then he shows no clue about simple things as convection (see Innocentius not burning Touma to death through his mere presence even though only Touma's hand is immune to any kind of supernatural power) or Vector addition (when Touma and Mikoto jump up falling debris to save Kuroko).
Not hating on him or anyone who likes his writing, because it is very entertaining and kinda informative, but it is not genius.
Btw, AcceleratorxWorst and ToumaxMikoto ftw. Also, Aiwass is a Kuudere for Hyouka (psych^^)
