Say what you will about the story of Sword Art Online, it's not this guy's fault. This guy ought to get an award for what he contributed.
But overall the series is directed with the utmost precision, and amazing details are shown. You really get to see the world of sword art online through the anime. Detail and pacing are both incredibly well done.
The action scenes have no wasted movement or distorted shapes. You can calmly observe all the action and see what's going on with all the detail. But for those near-death high adrenaline scenes the detail is deliberately thrown away in favor of a more passionate more chaotic intensity. But only when it makes a positive difference.
I'm eagerly anticipating any future project he's the main directer of as I also liked the directing in Occult Academy, even if I did find the story a little dull.

MINOR SPOILER FOR SAO
You can think SAO is overrated because fans hype it up too much but as someone who won't read a book (Haters gonna hate I still aint reading) I fell in love with the realistic characters and I identify with Kirito. I'm a solo player that always specs for dual wield daggers with high crit chance so watching a player like me make decisions I would have made and then some I would have never thought of is just SO entertaining. Deserves 10/10 from me.

i wonder if this guy or any sword art online staff can create a web-mmorpg like sword art online that never ends has revivals and has the ability to go with the computer microphone for talking if that doesnt exist yet i got it trust me i do but there will be choices of changing classes when u reach every tenth level when u reach level 100 u can become a paladin a knight and a priest mixed and has archery holy sword magical blacksmith and beast tamer abilities but it will have u restart ur level when u change classes and based on the class and previous 1 the more powerful 1 will take longer to level up than the other kk

I don't know if it's this guy's fault or the entire A-1 management. *Sigh. This is a big anime, direction must have come from the top. Either way, no help for SAO now. I will watch the second season with the bar really low so that I will never be disappointed again.

I agree that SAO is over-rated. However, whatever you may say about him, He already done quite impressive job so far by Deathnote, Summer Wars, etc.
