In both the current gods are dying and the mc has to compete in a battle royal to determine the new god.

Both mc's are introverts at the beginning and start opening up due to actions of their partner and all the battles with their opponents.

Similar plot: God is disappearing for some reason and powers are given to some humans, and a new god will be chosen among them. The main characters are similar and it's likely that an alliance between the main couple is formed.
Also, the god candidates in both stories seem to have lots of personal problems (it's insinuated that all god candidates in Platinum End are suicidals and most of the god candidates in mirai nikki had a sad/terrorizing/problematic past.)

Differences are: In Mirai Nikki, the power of each candidate is completely unique, while in platinum end the only difference is how many accessories the candidate has, depending on the class of his angel. Also, it seems killing all the other candidates is not the only way to become a god in Platinum End, even if he obviously needs to stay alive, while Mirai Nikki was a "must-kill-everyone-else".  read more

Both stories revolve around a number of people who receive supernatural powers and are chosen to be candidates in a death game where the winner will become god.

Well, even though only 3 chapters of Platinum End have been released while I'm writing this recommendation, they both follow the same main plot.
Few individuals are chosen to finish each other off and become Gods. The main difference is of course the resources they have in hand. Mirai Nikki has diaries and Platinum End has Arrows/Wings.

Both of these manga have a very similar plot. In both of them there are 12/13 chosen people to be god candidates, in Platinum End these chosen people are often suicidal and have given up on life and in Mirai Nikki the chosen people are generally psychologically damaged. These chosen candidates are given something that would change their lives, Platinum End provides the characters with angels and a choice between wings or red and white arrows, whereas Mirai Nikki rewards the candidates with a future diary, a device that will inform them of future events.
The MC's of these manga are both the "everyday person" that seem to be brought into this game outside of their free will to do so, and they also form romantic alliances with other candidates.
For anyone who likes a unique systematic plot line, these are two manga's that are definitely worth the read. read more

Both Series have the same idea that a human has the chance to become the next God. Both Series have theire own unique abilities for the God Canidates to help the Candidates to become God.
The Protagonist of each Sereie starts as a weakling who becomes stronger as the series progresses.

Both of these manga come from the same writer/artist combo (who also made Bakuman), and both have a somewhat dark tone.

Both manga have supernatural beings (a shinigami in DN, an angel in PE) that give the protagonist their powers (arrows and wings in PE, the Death Note in DE) and follow them around. Also, the protagonists of both series are aiming to become God.

The art style , the atmosphere , the story feels kind of similar for both the series . 
Both are centered around a young boy getting unique ability . They discovers various uses of their power by trying it out . 
In Ajin the boy has black ghost called IBM . And in Platinum End -Mirai has angel . 
They can order their IBM or Angel

Both have nonsensical absurd endings make just for shock value.
Also both writers dont deserve talent of their art guys.

If you look for something like KNL which wasted its potential and tried to be memorable with nonsensical ending then you have found it.

Both of these manga are set in the modern world where downtrodden people are given god like powers and go into conflict with each other. Both discuss themes of life and suffering as well as display disturbing imagery. They also have plots related to how the real world would react to the situation. The protagonists are kind hearted but the antagonists are uncaring and cruel.
