Uwasa no Midori-kun! is a great Shoujo, Sports, Gender Bender, Romance that should not be overlooked, due to its hilarious comedy and heated romance. Though it would have been better if the sports gender bender aspect were more realistic (like the movie ‘She’s the Man’), rather than your typical shoujo romance.

The story follows the high jinks of our tomboy heroine (Midori Yamate), who wants to seek revenge on the guy she once loved and admired (Hino Tsukasa), by entering an all-boys High School and joining their soccer team. It isn’t long until her ploy involves an unsuspecting guy from the soccer club (Kazuma Shinbashi) and ...

This is my first time writing a review so I will try my best. Out of all the mangas I have read so far this was the most touching one of them all. The ending was not quite what I wished for but it touches me the most. The story has great character development and some cute comedy scenes, I intially though it was going to be a tipical "love over heads" manga, but as the story goes on it was quite realistic. I strongly encourage everyone to read till the end as the ending. At the end it really shows how much love is ...

This anime should not be overlooked, from its heated romance, lovable characters and amazing comedy scenes. When i first came across this anime i thought it was just going to be another overrated anime with stupid romance scenes and childish comedy but i was completly wrong in everyway the romance is anything but stupid it has a mature side to it and also a very touching side as well and the comedy is just outstanding i fell out of my chair many times and had to even re-read some chapters because it was so romantic and funny that you just couldent get enough plus the ...

Uwasa no Midori-Kun is a fabulous manga that will be bundles of enjoyment while reading. The character Midori is athletic and outgoing, an easily lovable person to read about. Midori brings humor to the story by being an ace soccer player, sometimes socially awkward, and her personality it great. Ikeyamada Go has beautiful artwork, the two main male characters startlingly handsome and Midori is very cute, even when she is dressed as a boy. The storyline is a bit predictable, but it will still bring great enjoyment. A manga to definately read with its beautiful artwork, wonderful characrers, original plot, and hilarity!

Out of all of this Author's work, which I've read maybe only a few, this one has to be the most subversive. Especially the ending which was refreshing change compared to many of the other mangas that have some of the same cliches. The manga handles some tropes which can be tedious in very mature manner, some are completely unnecessary but the ones she does right are really good. Especially the character arcs of some of the more troubling characters are very well done and I actually end up forgiving them.
The art style is very distinctive of this particular author, but personally it's not ...

Story: a believable and realistic story that everyone can related to a little, whether its the competitiveness, the forgiveness, the love, etc! I really enjoyed the story!
Art: As usual the art was beautiful! And hilarious at the same time, which I love!
Characters: this was the best part of this manga. The characters were good strong characters. Midori was a strong and beautiful female character who held her own and who could beat up guys when threatened. But inside she has feelings and love and I truly admired her. Her childhood friend was also complex. He loves Midori but has a hard outer shell, much ...

Why a score so low? Because the mangaka Ikeyamada Go continues to fail to understand that consent is a fundamental concept, that rape isn't something to joke about and it's disrespectful for such an event to be used as a plot device.

Not only that but her female characters continue to exist as mere things to be owned by male characters and there's this idea that they're worth so much more as long as they're virgins.

This author promotes the idea that emotional and physical abuse can be romantic and this infuriates me because her works target younger audiences.

I completely lost interest in this ...
