Madness (Manga)

This Manga is Action and Yaoi. The action is filled with lots of blood, swords and fighting and the pairing is between a gang leader and a innocent young priest.

[ Story 7/10 ]
A ex gang leader found half dead was nursed back to health by a young priest. The leader's past finely catches up to him and the priest gets caught in the cross fire. The Manga involves the leader protecting the priest and finding his old gang members along the way, killing and fighting as they go. Also while on their killing rampage a love blossoms between the two. Well more the gang leader trying to...um 'have his way' with the young priest but protect him at the same time, of course :P

The manga's illustrations were hard to follow. The scenes were so intense i couldn't make out what was going on half the time. I had to keep re-viewing each action scene to work out who got hit and who died?! Besides that the fight scenes were intense and a joy to read.

The story is good but dark. At first i thought they were living in a broken society destroyed by war with no technology or working governments and the sex trade & gangs is all that ran the world. It seems that way but as the story progresses you find out that it's just war between gangs & religion really as the world goes on around them.

I did really enjoy the romance. It was sweet and tugged at my heart a few times. The love is pure but dirty at the same time. This great ex-leader found beauty in the young priest and can't stop himself from trying to devour the poor boy. And yes it's a boy. The illustrations towards the boy had me double guessing. They drew him just like a girl; long hair, girly lips, big eyes...he might as well been a girl with his behaviour being so weak. Typical uke :/

Oh there is some comedy. More subtle hints of comedy but still made me chuckled at times :)

I really enjoyed this Manga. I have read this many times and i have this manga to thank for introducing me to Kairi's other works (aka Brave 10). Even though this manga is old it is still one of the classics and everyone who is a fan of Kairi should read it :)

OMG. I've read A TON of yaoi manga and this is my favorite in action yaoi. I loved EVERYTHING about Madness. The plot, the characters, the art, everything. The main character is probably not unique, depending on how you look at it, but he has one of the strongest bonds formed with his seme that I've EVER seen. It's a bit more towards the R-rated genre not only because of the yaoi part, but because of the blood and immoral lessons found in it. Plus the comedy in it balances the seriousness found all-throughout the manga, so the comedy part isn't just another gag. You'll feel like it's the few happy moments before the extreme seriousness of the plot. read more
