Chihayafuru and Kono Oto Tomare! each involve a club for a niche Japanese competitive activity/sport. There is a similar feel to the storytelling revolving around the clubs for karuta (traditional Japanese card game) and the koto (traditional Japanese stringed instrument). The clubs in both have male and female members, with friendship and teamwork playing a big part as they strive together to improve and hope to reach the nationals. In Chihayafuru, Chihaya decides to become the Queen of karuta (top female karuta player), after witnessing her friend's passion for the game. Similarly in Kono Oto Tomare!, Chika finds out he wants  read more

Both stories have a good amount of drama that keeps the plot interesting! Both are also sports (musical) manga and all the characters are enjoyable to read about!

Both of em are music based shonen manga with great art and compelling story. While Beck focus on Modern music, Kono Oto Tomare! Focus on classical music using Koto. Both of em are amazing read

Even though, sports and music seem completely different. The two require hard work and talent. I think that the two are similar in how both clubs are extremely dedicated to their craft. It is inspiring. Furthermore, the author makes you care about the other teams. At times, you just want more than one team to win. Haikyuu is funnier to me, but both have comedic moments. The characters in both stories are so lovable. I highly recommend both series.

Delinquent boy x Perfect girl trope. The primary focus in kono oto tomare isn't romance though- it's music (koto). It's one of the best manga to exist because the storytelling is amazing and both mls and fls are written well. Hikaeme is a fuzzy and cute romance story with likeable characters

Both of these manga have a hint of romance within a school setting. Kono Oto Tomare! does not focus solely on romance, however. By using music as a medium, the reader can see the characters develop before their very eyes. In Honey Lemon Soda, the medium for character development is solely focused on school and interactions with classmates. Both of these mangas have an amazing art style and a plot that will make you feel the butterflies in your stomach!

Chemistry between two leading characters. Tone of the manga are similar - it mixes comedy with personal drama. Both main characters have a sad past. The romance in Kono Oto Tomare! is still developing but it a gives similar vibe to Dengeki Daisy.

Piano no Mori and Kono Oto Tomare! has a good sense of realism and story development. We have a noticeable cast of characters with talents. Throughout both series, the characters are distinguished by personalities, skill, and their roles. Both series has a good amount of drama as well that develops between certain characters. Music is also a prominent theme that connects many of the characters together. In addition, both series has a good emphasis on the past as we see how much characters evolve in the present.

Known for its drama and slice of life moments, both series crafts a story of youth and talent. There is a good amount of characterization presented in both series especially with their personalities and roles. Talent is also strongly emphasized with the characters' skills in what they pursue. Throughout their story, we also witness developing character relationships that is relatable and realistic. And while they follow a different interest, there is a bit of competition when it comes to ability.

Not completely similar, but there a quite a few common elements. Somewhat of a delinquent main character, the focus on a traditional Japanese passtime (HnG= the game of Go, KoT= playing the Koto), the struggles to improve, one genius player raised in the game/instrument by their family, a solid supporting cast, and Hikaru no Go does have some club type elements more at the beginning as well. There's a decent balance of comedy in both, and they both make something that you would probably actually find boring seem very interesting and engaging. HnG has a supernatural element to it, and is more focused on the rival  read more

Both Kono Oto Tomare and Tsukikage Baby are based on traditional Japanese performance arts. Kono Oto Tomare is set in a modern day highschool, and focuses on Koto music. Tsukikage Baby is set in a rural township and focuses on a traditional performance art, Owara. The performance arts form a backdrop for both manga, which are primarily character drama filled with themes of friendship and romance.

Both stories begin with the club on the verge of disbanding. Big Noise focuses on Rock, whereas Kono Oto Tomare! is all about the Traditional Koto... but both stories features high school clubs focusing on music, and characters seeking a place to belong. And both are incredibly enjoyable to read.

This romance manga has a lot of character development with the use of romance and basketball. However, compared to Kono Oto Tomare!, I will say that it is a bit more mature since this manga takes place over a longer period of time. There are still scenes that are tooth-rottingly sweet!

Both are music manga with a common theme of amateurs pushing their way in the world of music. Kono Oto Tomare is based in high school and around Koto music. Fuuka starts in high school but soon follows the characters beyond school and is based around modern rock music. Both show the characters dealing with each other and their competition as they struggle to be better than they were before.

Kurogane is the story of a new comer that begins in the kendo competion world. Kono Oto Tomare is the same. Both have great characters and stories.
