Both are considered classic shoujo with love triangles and relationships. Throughout both series, the main female protagonist learns what it's like to develop a relationship with others. Through trial and error, they learn about the essence of love. There is growth in both series as the main female protagonist develops and becomes more confident in herself and around others. I recommend both series for anyone interested for a bite of innocent shoujo.

Romance and drama. If you're looking for either or both, then these two series may be something to think about. Switch Girl and Mairunovich crafts relationship dynamics between its main leads. Throughout their story, we see how much the main female characters change both physically and mentally. It offers an experience of uouth with a lot of common adolescences themes we may encounter in our society. Recommended for fans who are interested in rom-com.

Both feature an unpopular not feminine girl who becomes prettier with the help of a guy (in Mairunovich he does her make up and hair while in Koukou Debut he is her fashion coach). Both main girls are dealing with their first experiences with guys and romance as well. They are both quite good shoujos with a similar feeling.

Despite the gender difference, both manga revolve around nerdy, bullied, and unpopular leads that from day to night turn into the most beautiful and popular kids in school with the help of their already 'cool' senpai(s).

Both main characters start off being the 'glasses-wearing', long skirt girl and then becomes this really pretty girl. Both girls change because they cannot stand humiliation any longer and both want to change because of someone. except in Papillon, the main character has a twin sister who is more popular than her- which then gradually goes into the story about a love triangle. happy reading :)

Female characters in both series are, ugly, and dress in an old-fashioned way, but when a male comes along, he encourages her to change her appearance as she was getting mistreated by others. Both females do end up changing their appearances, and start feeling more confident about themselves. However, Mairuvonich is much more long then Nageki no Marie is. If you have read one and enjoyed it, you may like the other.

This manga and Mairunovich is so similar. Girl is ugly but then becomes beautiful with the help of a classmate then falls in love.

The main characters in both of these series have an unruly/plain appearance until a cross-dresser (transvestite in Mairunovich) gives them a makeover. A handsome guy (in Kuragehime, a handsome guy who just likes to dress up as a woman sometimes) assumes a "guardian" role over the MC as she fumbles through love with other people, although it's clear that the MC is meant to be with him in the end. Both series feature cross-dressers, puts an emphasis on the significance of caring about one's appearance, and takes you inside Japan's fashion world (to a much lesser extent in Mairunovich). Mairunovich is more of a high  read more

both have female characters who appear 'ugly', unfashionable at the beginning of the story. main difference of these 2 is that Pika☆Ichi involves the main male character coincidentally in the same position as the main female character. both main characters change their looks because of an unforgiven act on them had happened. happy reading :)

In both series the main heroine starts off with a bad reputation (either being scary or ugly). Then she meets and befriends the most popular/handsome boy in school, who doesn't care about her looks but sees her for who she is. She changes herself and with the help of said boy works on her image to have more chance in her love life.

If you were to turn back time in NANA, you would probably see something like this. Or if NANA had a kid Mairunovich would be it. What can I say it just gives me that similar feeling with more fluff and less bounce. Its less mature than NANA but surely it still has that 'sucky' feel, that 'give me more or I'll kill you' feel. As the story of this grows I'm feeling "happy Nana's effects" everywhere in this. The two mains from each of these could be sisters in the way they react to situations. And the complications they find in their paths.

Both of these manga revolves around a girl who has no experience in love and are both considered to be "Ugly" or "Plain". They both were bullied by their classmates. They than changed their appearances and people begin to notice them. Than they are on the journey of experiencing love.
