Quite interesting manga because the protagonist is an anti-hero. He doesn't seem to have heroic powers except for his ideals. I also like how he is often displayed as a female character. The manga started slow but its pace is getting more interesting from chapter 8 and on. The complex concept is handled easy in this manga so it doesn't get too complex for the reader.
oh and you can definitely see that the mangaka has been an assistant of Ookubo Astushi. It has that soul eater art vibe :)

I haven't really read that many manga series, so I may not be a very good person to write a review on one, but I still know that I really love Tripeace. This manga follows a boy named Nana who wakes up one day with amnesia (not really a new idea but, hey, not a bad one). He's basically forgotten everything that isn't necessary to sustain life for himself. He soon meets some young kids who want to get Seisui, a liquid that can heal any injury or illness, for their younger sister who was injured when the small country they live in was attacked by a large neighboring country. I'll stop here to avoid much more spoilers even though most sites already do that, but basically things happen, Nana crossdresses disturbingly well, and he eentually joins the group known as Tripeace which is trying to rid the world of war through !) love 2) peace, and 3) whatever you want to go with as your last one.
The art is very interesting and gets better as it goes along and the fight scenes get more intense.
This manga has a pretty large character cast led by Naa and Shiro. Shiro is a great female lead who is a tsundere though as far as they've gotten so far doesn't reallly show much of the 'dere' part. Other good characters are Belial, the really big and powerful guy who is like Lee from Naruto when he gets unleashed, and Shitori, a smaller girl who uses chains and any other weapons she can store in her Hermione Granger-infinite-space-bag-clothes. The minor characters and few villains that have been shown so far are also great.
Overall I really like Tripeace and it's just keeps getting better. I hope it will keep getting published because, as of 40 chapters, it doesn't seem too close to finishing yet. I mean, Shiro doesn't even know that Nanako (one of Nana's crossdressing personas) is Nana. It's funny how she looks up to the person she looks down on. read more

The main characters have a "dark hidden past" (some more than others), in both mangas (it doesn't end up explained in Tripeace though, since it's only translated up to chapter 30). The "mood" given off by war is very similar in these two mangas. Both mangas have a dominating militaristic country and many conspiracies. They both portray a cold world and the crimes against humanity an invading country can inflict towards civilians. Despite the serious parts, the mangas are also very funny and have humorous moments.
At first glance, Tripeace seems like a copycat of FMA. The shounen art style is similar, and lots of the characters in Tri look like Ed from FMA. The worlds look similar (steampunk along with the countryside); soldiers, an all-purpose healing medicine, death, war, tragedy, comedy. Nana and Ed have similar personalities.

Both have really good characters with dark backstories. Tripeace is less psychological and more action, but it still has it's fair share of drama between the characters just like Fukashigi Philia does. Plus both main characters are not showing their true personalities at first.
