Well I'll refrain myself from spoiling the two (Spoilers for decades old manga? Surely everyone already knows the spoilers) Miura himself claims he's a big fan of Go Nagai and had influences from his manga. As for the manga: Both have deep roots in mythology and share a great deal of themes. Among them: friendship, corruption, and betrayal. If you only read the first Devilman series you might see the similarities with Berserk and also notice the major turning point of both series are very much alike. The more of Devilman you read the more and more similarities you'll notice. The characters: Akira/Amon and Guts: Both (at some point or another)  read more

They both feature protagonists who are part human, part devil who battle/hunt other devils. They both have great art work and feature adequate gore.

Both manga has the main protagonist that has a demon fuse inside him and must protect humanity from evil powerful demons. The main protagonist in both Devilman and Oniwakamaru have to struggle to control their inner demon while trying to keep their humanity intact. Both manga have plenty of action, violence, blood, and gore to keep you satisfied. If you like one, you will enjoy the other.

Old shounen from the times when violence was regular and usual for manga made for shounen demographic. Pure-hearted protagonist gets involved with a blonde-haired boy that has some unusual moral standards. By getting involved with this boy the protagonist ends up having to fight with monsters employing a kind of supernatural ability that lets him fight the monsters. The protagonist also changes from a wimp to a buffed man. Both titles are cult classic.

Both stories involve creatures which take over people's minds and bodies and can morph them in monstrous ways, and a protagonist who manages to retain his human personality despite being one of these hosts. Both protagonist's have to deal with this fact while keeping their identity secret and struggling not to lose their humanity.

To me, it seems that Zetman is a modern spin on the themes originally used in Devilman. Both feature a main character who fights off an invasion of superhuman creatures while at the same time fighting to keep their humanity.

Previously innocent boy turned into anti-hero by recieving a "power" he didn't exactly ask for, those manga are full of violence, discard any plot armor and go for unexpected twists with a grand finale to top it off.

Both series are written by Go Nagai & explore similar themes of paranoia, justification of sins, the weakness of humanity, corruption of religion & demons seeking to rid of humans for the safety of their race & the well being of their planet. Mao Dante is an incomplete rough draft for the Devilman series, while Devilman fully expresses it's story themes at its best.

These are manga created by Go Nagai carrying a similar dark tone where our heroes lose their humanity to protect the world and its people. In my opinion, out of all the Mazinger Z series Shin Mazinger Zero is Devilman's equal.

The series contains a protagonist that assumes a monstrous form and battles various demonic opponents, sound familiar? Undoubtedly one of the main inspirations for Guyver, and a classic manga whose influences can still be noticed today.

-Kamen Rider has a dark style similar to Devilman (obviously Devilman is more) -Both received slight adaptations made by Toei -The design style of the Go Nagai is extremely similar to that of Shotaro Ishinomori -Nagai was a student of Ishinomori
reportRecommended by tiobaessa
The art-style is similar and both manga are about a hero who fights against his enemies (Demons/ Psionics) who are trying to eliminate the entire human race. Both hero are high-schoolers and they can both transform into a superhero form that gives them powers. Saburo Kazeta transforms into Inazuman and Akira Fudou transforms into Devilman. Both Manga have the theme of Anti-War.

In 1965, Go Nagai (who wasn't a professional mangaka at the time) was going around submitting work to various magazines until one day, Shonen Sunday paired him up as an assistant to the legendary mangaka Shotaro Ishinomori. Go was an assistant for Ishinomori for a short time during the first run of Cyborg 009. Through both of these series, you can tell that Nagai and Ishinomori both have the same disdain for war, as both manga expresses concern towards the human race and it's desire to cause conflicts. However, Cyborg 009 is a lot more optimistic with this outlook, while Devilman goes in deep when  read more

both are demon filled and have about the same vibe it's hard to put into words but you'll know what i mean if you have read both

Devilman was a cautionary tale against war. MW also adds to this topic through its main characters, specifically Yuki, a man whom at a young age was exposed to government experimental gas called MW, causing him to develop a psychopathic personality. In both manga, I found myself asking, will humanity still exist at the end of this story? This manga was also released in the 70's, so if you love that 70's art style, I would definitely recommend this manga.

Both have young main characters, whose lives change when they become half monsters. In Tokyo Ghoul, the main character becomes a ghoul, while in Devilman, the main character becomes a demon. In both manga, the protagonists try to keep their humanity intact, while also fighting for what they believe is just. While Devilman is more gritty and has more gore, both manga have similar plot points and explore somewhat similar themes.

Let's be real here, who here who has read devilman didn't see this synopsis and instantly thought it was a ripoff So yea there you go
reportRecommended by Mei-o_Scarlett
Both series excel at presenting the depths of human nature when pushed to its limits, as well as portraying 'evil' through the comics medium. Devilman is more chaotic, whereas Dragon Head presents a comparatively more 'natural' evil, that is no less frightening.

Both are defining superhero manga with heavy anti-war themes. Both feature themes of self-sacrifice and humanity. They differ in the way the protagonist chooses to respond.
reportRecommended by Karl_Barx28
These two manga are filled with blood, gore, nudity and gruesome deaths. These two anime are not for the faint-hearted. These two anime have our main character turning into a monster and killing people with ultra violence. Not to mention these two manga deal with the the darkness of humanity and have a very dark and depressing feel to them.
reportRecommended by Genocyberfanboy
Neuro and Devilman shares villains that have or reveals animal traits on their evil/devil forms and the HAL arc has a plotline of paranoia about the criminal drug that turns people into criminals, simillar to how the devils starts to turn every human into devils on the second half of devilman.
reportRecommended by elvishawk
In these two manga, you have monsters trying to destroy humanity and focus on the horrors of war. Both manga also have a main hero that is a hybrid and must destroy other evil powerful monsters. Not to mention these two manga are very dark that are filled with violence, blood and gore.
reportRecommended by Genocyberfanboy
Both manga have a similar demographic. Both are action-packed manga, filled with violence and gore, which focus on a main protagonist who has a demon within him, and must fight not only against his enemies, but also to keep his own humanity.
reportRecommended by BohemianRhapsody
Both have endings considered shocking at the time of release. Both feature a generally cynical view of humanity.
reportRecommended by Karl_Barx28
Both have a black haired, pure-hearted protagonist that gets turned into a monster, and they both have a best friend that cares alot about them, and who seem like they might be a bit insane. Their best friends have another similarity but that kinda goes into spoilery territory.
reportRecommended by NitrogenAA
Both are can essentially be defined as 'tragedies', featuring the gradual breakdown of the initially optimistic protagonist throughout the story.

Sometimes it feels like DMC on itself got some inspiration from Devilman. Angelic or Greek/Roman/Christian aesthetics are depicted as deceptive in both worldbuildings, while making Demons more of troubled creatures rather than mindless zombies, despite their monstruous forms. The struggle between bestiality (demons) vs the mind and heart (humans) is real in both of these two. Without having played DMC you can take a look on Visions of V as a "standalone", however, it spoils the whole purpose of DMC5. Give this a try if you're willing to get into the games. Devilman has some BL going on and tells the story of the main demonic figure suffering  read more

Sex, violence, monsters and protagonist with the power of demon.

The main protagonist in both manga are thrown into a life of darkness and possess a special ability (Kei being immortal and Akira Fudo becoming a demon). The main protagonist in both manga must learn how to handle their new abilities and slowly become more violent, stronger and determined over time. They are also both filled with violence, action, and blood with a dark and gritty atmosphere. If you like one, you may enjoy the other as well.

Classic horror manga by two legendary mangaka; Osamu Tezuka and Go Nagai. These stories feature men afflicted by demons while carrying a theme of anti-war.

Stories by Go Nagai that share very similar story structure about a young man who loses his humanity to battle demons.
reportRecommended by THEAnimeHERO
Both manga are from Go Nagai. Mazin Saga and Devilman have a similar dark and gritty atmosphere, as well as similar character designs. In both manga, the main protagonist can transform into a superhuman being and must protect humanity from evil monsters. Mazin Saga even has cameos and references to characters from Devilman. If you like one, you will enjoy the other.

Both manga deal with a non human protagonist that battles other demons that threaten humanity. They are also both action-packed manga with a dark and gritty art style. If you like one, you'll probably like the other. Probably want to check out the western comic book series of Spawn as well.

Both Devilman and 3x3 Eyes have a main protagonist that must fight against various powerful evil demons that they come across and finds allies that they meet along the way on their journey. They are both action-packed manga with violence, blood, and gore. If you liked one, you'd like the other.

Both manga are from the 1970s and feature violence, blood, and gore. Both titles share a similar tone and vibe. Both Devilman and The Drifting Classroom have the main protagonist fighting creatures and attempting to survive in their surroundings. If you like one, you'll probably like the other.

Both have the best ending I have ever seen, both being really pessimist about human nature. Devilman tends to be more gory thou. They also are really short series so you can read than really fast.

Both are about fusing with monsters and the importance of friendship.

(As multiple arcs are included in Monogatari Series: Fist Season entry, this reccomendation is mainly for the Kizumonogatari arc.) The protagonist is transformed into a half human-half monster (vampire/demon) thanks to an interraction with pure monster - regular vampire and regular demon, though in both cases the the monster is one of the most or even the most powerful monster of their kind. This transformation is done against his will forced by the circumstances and because they wanted to help someone. Both stories involve plot twists.

70's manga that mixes action and tragedy, with the protagonist having an "evil" power. Nice oldschool artstyle combined with some experimental panelling decisions.

Incredibly influenced by Devilman. Ken ishikawa has always been inspired by go nagai since day one and out of all of his manga it shows here the most from character designs to very similar themes

Earth is facing an apocalyptic event, and it is up to these manly protagonists to fight for the humanity's sake. Both of these titles are old-school classics and franchises that shaped their respective genres.

Humanity is under attack by a different live form that threatens humanity's existence, be it angels in Evangelion or devils in Devilman, and the wussy main character is the humanity's chance of winning. In Evangelion, he gets forced to get into a mecha and fight, while in Devilman he gets forced to permanently turn into a demon and fight. The ending is similar, and in fact Evangelion was inspired by Devilman, but I won't give too much details as to not spoil it.

Same techniques were used. If you ever read devilman first, you will not be suprised with death note.

Some non-human beings appeared in the world, which have superpowers and are superior as the mankind. It's unknown where they come from, but they have a one goal - to observe and judge the mankind. Both manga talk about the current leading species on earth (humans), which abuse the earth by killing the nature and playing somewhat like god themselves. Devilman has demons and one human/demon who protects the human. Inugami has dogs and there is one dog who likes the humans and protects his friend. Well these Inugami are Abstract and not ordinary and that goes for the demons from Devilman.

Jinzou Shoujo feels really inspired by Devilman and the storytelling by Nagai Go, it’s pretty much like a shoujo version of it with cigarette smoking alpha-hunks, monsters, sex, gore and a BL-subplot. Everything a young maiden could ever want.
