A similar asthetic exists in these two series. Although they are different in context, the atmosphere in these publications never seem to light up. It is as if a gloomy and bleak atmosphere is always at play.
These are seinens where the male lead is a bit dark and gloomy with points of light also as he struggles to find his career and his place in the adult world. Both have a male lead who is an artist and a love relationship which is complex and both also have younger female muses as well on the side. Both have good art and characters which appear to be drifting but are finding themselves as artists and holding down jobs too. In Yesterday the male lead is a photographer while in Natsu no Zenjitsu the male lead is a painter.
