Nishiki feels trapped by her family who already have entire future planned down to how many babies she'll have. So it's no wonder when she meets Atsumori, she clings to the first chance she's found to escape, through his proposal to essentially elope with him to Tokyo. Two years pass before she manages to make it there to take him up on his offer, but then she discovers that he wasn't actually serious about any of it. But too late now, because she's been nursing this crush for years, and she's not about to give up.

Taamo said in her notes that she wanted to write a manga with a strong female character, where the young woman initiated the romance and drove the plot, and that is exactly what she has accomplished. While not as long and complex as her greatest work, House of the Sun, Taamo proves once again that she is a master of the shoujo romance. The characters are all complex people with the same hopes, fears, and flaws that we all share. The author proves that even in a shorter work, she can create a story that captivates her audience and provides the happy ending we crave.

If you have already read a work from Taamo-sensei, then "Atsumori-kun's bride (to be)" will be right up your alley. In this manga we follow Kubota Nishiki, our lively, honest, and very expressive female lead, as she breaks up the shackles of her rigid would-be life. When she meets Atsumori, the handsome and aloof friend of her grandpa, who suggests her to simply elope with him, she finds the key to her freedom.
