Enjoyed the third installment of the Star Ocean series? Then this title might just be the one for you.
The plot closely follows the game its based on. The story starts out while Fayt Leingod together with his family and friend Sophia Esteed are taking a break on a vacation Island when suddenly an unknown enemy attacks the planet for an unknown reason. After being separated with his family, Fayt gets marooned on a backwater planet and this is where the story heats up... but you'd either know this already or since chances are you've already played the game if you're interested in this manga and if you haven't then it's best that I stop here to prevent further spoilers.
Compared to the game there are many differences here and the most noticeable here is the more animated characters. Yes the characters in this manga have different personalities, Cliff for example is depicted as a lovable pervert and Nel Zelpher remains as sexy if not sexier than ever but now she has an actual personality to boot (tsundere), something she was lacking in the game. The minor characters particularly Clair Lasbard and the other members of the Crimson Blades also have a several special chapters dedicated to them which is great news for fans of the game since these chapters are some of the best reasons to actually read this manga because it provides further info on these characters (which have a large fan base if I may add). Other characters not present in the game are also mixed in which isn't exactly a bad thing but its not something to woo over.
Overall this manga is pretty solid, its much more lighthearted than the video game it's based on and it has some ecchi scenes, a feature that was surprising lacking in the game considering Nel's sex appeal. There is one draw back though, this manga has been discontinued... hehe... Yeah I know that sucks! :P...
But I still encourage you all to read this manga. This has some of the most hilarious scenes I have ever seen. read more
