Everything from the story to the world and characters are some of my absolute favorites. I've actually stumbled upon this show multiple times before finally watching it, and aren't I glad that I did. I don't know why, but this show is probably the only one that feels special to me for some reason. Even though I watched it pretty late in my anime journey, it's probably my most favorite show of all time. |
| I was much fonder of the series a while back, but in retrospect, I really only loved episode 10, which I think is masterfully crafted and beautifully executed to this day. The rest I found to be rather boring, or overdramatic, especially in the case of the movie. As for Violet, I think she is a pretty good character who displays that we are constantly learning through our experiences and interactions with others. I can really respect the emotional growth and development Violet receives throughout the series. So overall, yes, I do like Violet Evergarden, even though there are some aspects of the writing which keep me from absolutely adoring the series like I did previously. |
| I already talked about my mixed feelings in another thread but allow me to say it again here: I’ve always thought both the series and the character were never good to begin with. The premise behind it is actually. The show is mostly episodic where Violet will visit her client and help them with ghostwriting. Not the best concept but still good and can get better when used right. Sadly, this was held back by drama that gets quickly resolved in certain ways that devalues both the story and the drama. Those kinds of emotions are not only manipulative but also juvenile. Violet Evergarden herself is perhaps both the best and worst part of the series. She is the title’s key character who has a good backstory and makes the supporting cast dive into gloominess. While I do say that this is interesting on paper, her character was never explained properly. Instead, she would shove melancholy in every episode just to excuse what drama means. Again, those kinds of emotions felt forced af. |

| It used to be one of my favourites not long ago. The test of time hasn't been favourable in this case. I absolutely loved the movie the first time I watched it but as time went on I realised how it ruined Violet's character that was built up in the TV series. The TV series Violet Evergarden is a great character, overall however, she's meh. |

| I really loved the show, OVA and the first film. Then the final film came out, messed up my experience, and now I barely ever look back at it. |

I didn’t think it would at first cause i finished the season, and i liked the near episodic format, but the episodes were pretty hit of miss. Ether an amazing 9 or 10, or a mediocre 6 or 5 or some even a 4. So other all i averaged out my score for each episode, and it came out to an 8. Now the movie, that was amazing, i was sceptical at first and i thought this was gonna be one of those misses after the first 30 minutes. I was wrong. After that i was completely captivated by this movie, I couldn’t stop watching, it had fully captivated me. While the anime only made me drop a tire a couple times, the movie made me full on weep 3 or 4 times, I think this is the movie i have cried at an anime movie so far. It is truly an amazing story And the animation is gorgeous. Second favourite romance series now. |

| Absolutely love her. Her character is amazing, Development is insanely good. A robot understanding human emotions, by going through tough times like someone's Marriage, Death, near death experience.....by talking with them, by writing letters. Being able to express emotions through words for someone who didn't even know how to read and write. She kept searching for Gilbert from place to place, not like some typical romance shit (those who say, if u die i die) , she changed and became a better person, utilising her time and opportunity Gilbert gave her. From a cold hearted Killing machine to a soft hearted loving girl. She is a real person. π€ |

| I watched the first few episodes about two years ago and dropped it. I picked it up again last summer, and realised how good of a show i’d missed out on! I thought the series was good, but the movie really did it for me. The movie was amazing, and i might’ve shed a few (a lot) of tears |
