So, im kinda puzzled with this episode, maybe i missed something but what is the relation between the casino and the D2 that appeared? and why did the guy went on a run after the fight?

The plot of this episode was really off to me, the pacing was ok though, and the fight coreography + music was really good much better than last one. Personally i would like to see again something on the level of ep1 again, or see the kind of character growth/interaction like happened on ep2.

This was decent overall though.

I didn't expect this show to have any interesting story given how generic the concept is. I had small hopes that it will be interesting on episode 3, but then I was brought back to reality by this episode. No more expectations from now on. I'll just continue watching this for Destiny.

That's a pretty good underground battle! Lenny and Titan parted ways but they'll surely meet them again in the near future, maybe about something big related to Lenny and Titan's mission. Looking forward to see more good fight scenes and adventure of Takt, Destiny and Anna.

This anime continues to be a slipshod mess.

As before, the action scenes have no tension because there are no stakes or drama. Instead, they have the clinical, dispassionate feel of a video game, where the player character is tasked with clearing the level of monsters to complete the objective. The fights do not serve the internalization of the characters or anything else remotely interesting. They are just there to fill runtime with flashy but empty animation sequences.

The character relationship revolving around Takt, Cosette, and Anna has been swept under the rug in favor of hitting the standard training montage plot points. There's zero acknowledgement of the emotionally fraught situation they should be in, given that someone close to them has basically died, and been reborn as this alien "thing" that smashes through walls and pigs out on food for cheap comedy. This is the weakest aspect of the characterization at this point, and leaves the emotional core of the show feeling like it has been abandoned.

The plot of the episode was mind-numbingly banal and cliche. "Nice" settlement leader who gives off obviously sinister vibes turns out to be leaching off the common folk, only to be resoundingly defeated by our trusty heroes, with no need to worry about nuance or pesky moral ambiguity. He's just a cookie-cutter bad guy. Why is he bad? Because the plot needed him to be. What are the consequences of waltzing in and nuking his operation? None, because this is a farce with no thought put into the story whatsoever.

If that weren't enough, the show doesn't even try to come up with a reason for why there are D2s under the casino. They're just there, and pop out conveniently when Cosette and co. show up. What does their presence have to do with the casino subplot? Nothing, apparently. Or maybe it does and the anime just isn't telling us because "mysterious" equals "artsy".

Finally, and worst of all, is the situation with music. The way it is being used in this show sucks, and this episode did nothing to change that. They are obviously trying to leverage popular music as some kind of thinly veiled analogy for social stratification, where the wealthy and powerful get to enjoy music, while everyone can only dream of it. Uh, ok.

Conductors are literally just puppeteers for the Musicarts. Using fifteen different music terms while describing it doesn't make it clever or original. This has nothing to do with conducting, ensemble playing, or music in general, at even a superficial level. It's just taking a tired, overdone idea and slapping a new label on it to make it sound original in the ads for the game.

Lastly, and most horribly, the actual musical score for the show continues to be trash. The few bastardized bars of horribly quoted Beethoven should be enough to demonstrate just how little this show actually cares about its subject matter. This is the prose equivalent of having characters quoting Shakespeare. It's pretentious at best, and certainly isn't a substitute for actual depth or intelligence in the relationship between the story and the score.

I can't even praise the show for the animation because it frankly isn't anything special, and more importantly is in service of nothing. If Cosette was even doing anything remotely interesting I could consider this show redeemable for her character design and personality. But literally every fight is just some nameless, faceless, monster with no important to the immediate plot. Yeah, I don't doubt (or at least I hope) we'll get some fights with more gravity once we get out of this slog of an exposition. But no halfway decent anime struggles this hard to make the action matter, even in the first few episodes.

Style over substance. Not the worst thing in the world, but I wish they would just go all-out on the style in that instance. At this rate the only parts worth watching are the few minute action scenes per episode. I liked the design of the D2s in the casino though.

So basicly this episode is to show how Takt learn to control Destiny through Lenny guide(even though he had already control Destiny in a few sence from previous ep)

Beside Takt training, nothing really happens in this episode,i bet even if you remove this ep and skip to ep 5,no one will ever wonder anything

The show is very interesting, I hope that as it progresses a lot of the questions about how the world they live in works are answered. The characters are all endearing and I've noticed that for someone reason they all use English words a lot more than in other anime's, It's cute

Yea... this episode was bad and im dropping this show lol. First the visuals were a mess, good little scene in the beginning but everything else either didnt move or it looked REALLY unfinished. And the thing is, i could see that the staff actually tried in this episode, but they obviously didnt have the time to polish it. Besides that the episode was just boring. I cant care about the story/plot and these characters, i thought they were promising, but now i just find them mediocre. Ill probably just watch clips of the fights online or the posts on sakugabooru.

Agreed. I think after 3 episodes you already know whether it's going to be good or bad.

I think that serves as the end of the prologue, because this might be the last date before the events of the first episode. With Titan and Lenny parting ways with our duo, it's just the wide expanse of the road from here on out. But it's alright, considering that Takt and Destiny are getting better with their skills, and they managed to beat a D2 together in a good way.

Now with all that being said, the animation is at its worst here. Although people are tired of hearing people like "animation sucks, so the show sucks", I wouldn't lie that this episode is now making me start to worry about the show's performance in the future. When you have main characters who are already cardboard-like to begin with, and with the animation clearly sucking throughout the runtime, the show is off to some very bad futures. As a man who's trying to invest on this show, this might be the one who'll hurt my finances, I'm just hoping it'll turn the other way.

The animation quality is quite good I think. The quality didn't drop that much, at least for me.

But, I just didn't understand where the story will go.... I still don't have any grasp from either the story or the character. It's just feels bland:/

I am enjoying the animation, not the story. Though there are visible character development for Takt... Perhaps Cosette... But this is becoming a road movie type anime instead of a solid foundation of stories. Though There was a hint in Titan's dialogue of possible mystery.

Pretty good episode, I guess we'll go back to where we left off from the first episode after this. Titan was really adorable this episode. Of course rich looking owner guy is sus as fuck immediately lmao. Nothing really super important happened this episode, just some training and some sakuga. Though there's the things Lenny hasn't told them yet, plus mention of Takt's father.

After watching this episode I got confirmation that Cosette doesn't like doors, and instead prefers break walls

Jokes aside, very good episode: I guess the next one will be set in the present (just as ep 1); and I'm really curious tbh. I wonder when we'll see Lenny and Titan again.
Can't wait for next episode

Guess Destiny isn't aware that doors exist. So the trio and Lenny and Titan are splitting up. Lenny's ara-ara's are so cringe-inducing:|

So this is the end of the prologue along with some minor basic training. I'm actually eager to see the introduction of Hell, I like her character design.

Another mid episode. The ratings are dropping as expected, my guess is it will be within the 7.1-7.3 range unless things get better. But it's a game anime, who am I kidding lol

It actually deserves to be in the 6 range as far as I'm concerned, but I have to account for the waifu lovers who will undoubtedly boost the score a tad bit

Now moving on to Las Vegas the streets of gambling turned into a farmland

Still some progressions recapping their past with Lenny looks like it's catching up now, Cosette's always that perceptive of her surroundings she's a good or bad take in your party If I must say

How pure Anna is when it comes to fights she should step back from it a bit or she'll get hurt, Well this is where they part ways and hopefully catch up to the present now.

This Episode did a good job in mentioning the Basics of being a Maestro/Musicart.

Animation was so good asusual especially in the Las Vegas parts. They didn't keep Lenny and Monster as Permanent Companions and I'm glad they parted ways cause now Takt and Destiny can learn on their own..

Looking forward to the next Episode

Titan running circles around our main duo while assasinating the monsters in the underground casino was very funny. Otherwise, it was a standard episode about kindness and retribution. Oh, and Destiny will never stop finding unwanted encounters due to her warrior spirit.

Yes, at least sakugas still 10/10 high quality from MAPPA and Madhouse team (including MADBOX too as the animation finisher).

But the story ...
Hmm, I should play the game to get the real sensation of the story.

I'm a little disappointed that the combat has little to do with actual music conducting, rather Takt can just wave his arm around like he has a magic wand.

And yes, it is clear that there was a decrease in artistic polish on this episode. I don't think what series ruining by any means- but it doesn't inspire confidence moving forward.

While I am enjoying this for what it is, this one is starting to feel like it's dragging its own feet from point A to point B.

I definitely love the choreography and sequences in this episode -- especially that casino scene. However, the dialogue seemed too dull and uninteresting for the whole thing to have any profound significance. As the others said, this is more like an equivalent of a tutorial stage in a game.

I might just watch this just to see it through the end, but I'm starting to have doubts that it'll get better unless the screenwriter has something in store for the next episodes.

He is Bad. Just turn off your brain and don't question it. Takt and Destiny Good, Casino man Bad.

In all seriousness, I have no idea. He was supposed to have been taking all the money earned by the farmers and using it to fund his casino, although the show forgot to explain exactly how he did that with no one noticing. Because, and this might be a shocker to some, this show has bad writing.
