| it's been years since i last watched this and it's still as insane as i can remember. good kind of insane. i don't know exactly why all the characters here are so endearing to me. i was afraid i would start disliking mamimi but so far so good. people talk about symbolism and randomness but i think this anime is not really that deep, it's just so damn entertaining you just can't stop watching even though it doesn't really make sense. anyway, still my favourite. <3 |

| Haruko's introduction is probably my favorite of all time for any character, she just comes with such an impact and everything is perfect, the song, the faces Mamimi makes, the jokes ("stop the native girl!", "demo, Taro-kun janakute...")! I always watch it every once in a while. |

| I think he did well to watch this anime series, now, after so many years that I see anime series and I am older, because in my youth I would not have been able to appreciate this product. Noticeably absurd in its nonsense narrative, it still has a logical thread in its dynamics. The design style and the color tone, remind me so much of the anime series KareKano. |

Other than that, nothing makes sense. I don't care if that was the point, but it sucks still. Reminds me of a Cartoon network show that I forgot, because the animation sucked there too. Does anyone know where this sound effect is actually from? It comes on a lot of shows and came on this one too, so I was hoping if you would help. Hidan no Aria scene. Real funny |

| Alright I am rewatching this after seeing it once and absolutely hating it. Yet FLCL gets praised all the fucking time, so I just want to understand what the fuss is about. I liked this episode better this time around. I still hated the "manga" part with a passion. It's just noise and the father infuriates me to no end. The soundtrack is fantastic though. The animation is still impressive, which was the only part I really liked the first time around. |
| The only thing FLCL is, is a big promotional campaign for "The Pillows" and the animation skills of Production I.G. because in that aspects the series rocks. I gave the show a 4/10 many years ago, rewatching again as well. And by the looks after episode 1 my impression is still the same. A coming of age story packed in something gibberish and annoying characters, a lot of them. But let's see,there are 5 episodes to go. |
| I'm so confused. Just... so confused. What did I just watch? THIS is the show that got a massive cult following? I think I liked it? What? Mamimi has a weird relationship with this grade schooler. Should a high school woman really be pressing her breasts up against a literal kid like that? It was pretty funny seeing Naota getting hit by the Vespa. Nice Engrish, Hakuro. What's with that animation? Why is she rolling around? Why did she need to kiss him? WHY DID SHE HIT HIM AGAIN WITH A GUITAR? Poor kid. That's not what CPR is, Haruko. How does getting hit by a guitar result in a fucking horn growing? I like the facial expressions Hakuro is making. Hey, they said the name of the show. Don't be mean to Mamami, Naota. Just because you grew a horn doesn't mean you need to get all edgy on us. I have no idea what is going on during this manga-like sequence. I like the Gundam references, though. Getting very "Gintama-y" vibes from this show. Apparently hitting someone with your Vespa is a good way to get a job. The kid should have shared his bed with her. The fool. He doesn't appreciate a good anime waifu when he sees one. Why did Naota suddenly see the need to run out of his house? Why does her "overflowing" mean her just passing out? More anticlimactic than I was led to believe. WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON? WHY DID HIS HORN JUST TURN INTO TWO ROBOTS? Admittedly, the action was super well animated and choreographed. Robots apparently change color when hit with her guitar. The robot got embarrassed. 10/10 show. good ed |
| Absolutely loved this, one of the best first episodes I've ever seen :3 Gainax never stops to deliver top tier content. Amazing and creative animation, soundtrack, as well as superb direction (I adore the manga sequence). As far as I can see, people in this thread seem to either love it or hate it |

| Oookay I knew this show was about puberty but I didn't expect it to be so... Explicit. I was honestly very confident about this show, I thought it would be just what I like but I must admit that this episode left me pretty disappointed. I love cartoonish shows so I thought I would love this one too when I saw how cartoonish it is but I quickly realised that it is way too over-the-top. I don't mind craziness in shows, I can even love it, but this is too much for my tastes, it almost never stops. (While it's been in my PtW since a pretty long time, I actually finally decided to watch it because people said Eizouken reminded them of it... While I see the similarities I still feel a little betrayed.) Now for the characters... They don't really appeal to me either. The guy whose name I forgot is pretty interesting as a representation of a teen going through puberty but his personality isn't one I like for now. His friend looks like she might become the most interesting character but that doesn't mean I'm fond of her either. And Haruko... One of the reasons I started this show was because there was something about her that made me think I would love her. I immediately loved her when she first arrived with her cartoonish silly antics. It didn't last long though. Her personality is too much, I generally love over-the-top characters like her but just like everything in this show this is just too much. She's too much, it just becomes obnoxious, I expected her to be able to be more chill. Well she is sometimes chill but when that happens, she displays a very unlikable personality. Plus am I crazy or did she actually rape the protagonist and made out with his father ? That is incredibly messed up ! And what's with the mecha like... Why ? I'm willing to give this show a chance so I'll watch the next episode but this one didn't live uo to my expectations. |

| Mamimi has some "Nichijou" levels of face reactions. Well, this was totally insane but in the good sense. The constant transitions between different animation styles were so amazing. Also, Haruko's character introduction will be among my favorite ones from now on. The girl practically owned the episode the moment she appeared. |
| I feel bad for Naota, having to deal with all the strange things going on around him. He just wants to be ordinary, after all. He and Mamimi appear to be sad that his brother is in America, but it seems his brother has already moved on to someone else, lol. Got to say this tho, that manga-esque section in the middle of the ep kinda pissed me off. Highlight: The slow motion shots on the bridge. It felt original, and I can't really remember if another show did something quite like it. I just wish there was more background detail for it tho |
