Good episode with lots of plot development but although it followed the manga closely, it still felt a bit rushed at times.

...It felt like they skipped something. I mean, it was like: "Remember what he said? The real truth beyond the truth... there has to be something else" *fades black* "These are all the alchemy research facilities in Central..." It just didn't feel right.

Anyway, lots of questions raised and possible involvement by the brothers in political matters (as Armstrong mentioned). Plus, it ended on a cliffhanger. Nice stuff there. Oh, and why were Lust and Gluttony so interested in killing Scar?

This to me is one example of a scene where 1-2 sentences more would've been nice, so the jump to looking at labs on the map wouldn't feel so abrupt. And I'm also curious about the interest that Lust/Gluttony show in Scar. :)

3. How Ed and Al revealed the truth to Ross and Brosh themselves and then requested them to keep quiet about it didn't feel right with me. Obviously they had to tell Armstrong. In FMA1 Ross overheard it which I personally found better.

Yeah, this scene felt a bit weird since Ed should realize that them knowing is very dangerous. For them since either the Deadly Sins or the military itself could target them and also for the brothers since the third party would probably torture the two and get the info that the brothers found out about the sacrifices.

When they discover the truth, it felt more intense. The mood...everything, was perfect. Also, the scene where Ed is on the couch...i loved how it was significantly darker...(and the fan...looked good XD Oh! and Ed's automail)

Loved these two scenes as well, especially the one in their room!

I found the fact that a philosophers stone requires living humans to be created very clever. Think about it, the law of equivalent exchange dictates that "In order for something to be gained, something of equal value must be lost" the only exemption is done by the usage philosophers stone. So the stone must indeed be of great value. And what is more valuable than existence itself? It is irreplaceable and irreplicable. Nothing matters once you are dead so of course it's value has to be infinite. So therefore it's only natural for human lives to be the source of the stone.

Well said, the author put a lot of thought into that one I bet. And the whole concept makes the series even darker, which I love.

They broke into prison but there's very little to no guard presence and it looks like the prisoners took over for a pretty long time now.

It wasn't the prison but the "abandoned" research lab right beside it.

I find it quite ridiculous that Sheska has a perfect memory like that. Anyways, who are those guys who attacked in the end?

The recap was fantastic as I came back to the series after a large hiatus.

I thought the ending scene was pretty terrifying :0

Keep in mind guys the government isn't one giant monolith. Just like a real government there's tons of people and different groups within the government.

ok ep, could've done better without the constant cheap comedy every 3 seconds. The self reflection after learning the truth was a nice change of pace, other than that pretty lifeless

Sad to say this but this show remains like this for around 50 episodes and only the last 15 are decent

Edward and Alphonse arrive back in Central, only to find that the first branch of the state library had been burned to the ground. Scar encounters and battles Lust and Gluttony in the sewers, resulting in a large explosion. Edward and Alphonse's new escorts, Denny Brosh and Maria Ross, direct them to Sheska, a file clerk who had worked at the first branch of the state library, but was fired for spending all her time reading. Sheska reveals that she has memorized all of Marcoh's works, and then makes handwritten duplicates for the Elric brothers. While initially appearing to be a cookbook, Edward notices that is written in a code that Marcoh created. Edward and Alphonse spend several days deciphering the hidden data, only to discover that the philosopher's stone is made from living humans. Edward asks Brosh and Ross to keep it a secret, but Armstrong learns about it using intimidation. Edward notices another hidden piece of information, locating an unused laboratory next to a prison, where raw materials for the stone were gathered. Armstrong tells the Elric brothers to stay put, but they both manage to sneak out to the fifth laboratory,
Edward enters the building via an air duct, while
Alphonse waits outside, unaware that he is being watched by a menacing figure.

Sorry to break the flow of "loved it" but I didn't like it that much. But I am noticing that it's always taking me 2-3 viewings to like the new series episodes. They are in fact quite good, but I can't help compare it to FMA1 in my first viewing. Anyway, what I didn't like-

1. The Scar-homunculus fight was too short.
2. How Sheska (I always thought her name was Cheska when I watched FMA1 dubbed !!) was introduced. I mean not how she introduced herself and all coz that was very good and funny but how Ed and Al were suddenly taken to a fired ex-employee seemed like "rushed" (oh no here's that word again, sorry). Anyway when I watched that part a second time, it did seem quite logical for the military to keep such information.

3. How Ed and Al revealed the truth to Ross and Brosh themselves and then requested them to keep quiet about it didn't feel right with me. Obviously they had to tell Armstrong. In FMA1 Ross overheard it which I personally found better.

4. Was it just me or did it seem like the conversation where Hughes gives Sheska the job misses a few lines? like Sheska saying she can reproduce all the records or Hughes confirming that she can do it. In the episode, it showed Sheska saying she memorized the records and Hughes immediately saying "Alright, let's go through the procedures" . A trifle thing but well it's bugging me.

5. Still can't find a stand-out/moving music theme. Arghhh.

this is exactly how i feel. this show fails as a remake for me.
the plot in fma was nicely built to give a nice touch and things were expanded on. i personally am not fond of the way fmab is doing this. too rushed. poeple who didnt watch fma and started in fmab just miss out all the good stuff

Exactly, though I'm not too pressed about it as I was when I started watching. This episode made the show grow on me, or maybe that's just cause Sheska was introduced in it and she's one of my favorite characters.

Well the story is somewhat similar to the 1st version in 2003. They finished about 20-25 episodes of 2003 version in just 7 episodes. Though the story keeps the viewer interested in my opinion the 2003 version had way better execution.

Yeah, I seriously feel like the show is running at x2 speed most of the time lol.

Pretty good episode
Followed the manga mostly .
removed two or three things I wished they would have added , but oh well.
Either way , this was mostly a " how and why " episode.
Showed why and how the brother came to be how they are.
with Ed seeing the Truth .
then Roy meeting the brothers
Ed vowing to take 1 year to recover and him consequently being able to transmute without Circles thanks to him having seen "IT" ( and Al not remembering).
And finally Ed's Exam to become a state alchemist , where he promtly attacked Bradly who told him he still doesn't know the world xD.
Thus showing how the fuhrur gave Ed an "ironic" name : the FullMetal Alchemist.

Next week , they goin' to Liore/Reole ~

oh , and the score was pretty darn awesome. Akira Senju delivers !!

Yeah there was definitely a good combination of comedy and drama here. The conversation in the car was golden, Sheska is an awesome character, Ed and Al finally figure out how to make the Philosopher's stone but the results are not pleasant at all. I wonder what's gonna happen whst with that cliffhanger happening, anything goes in the next one I'd say.Not much else to say than what everyone's said about this episode other than it was really good.

it was the worst episode for sure. obviously, the logic behind philosophy stone is ok and I don't have any problem with it. and now I just realized that Mike Ross is Shaska 2.0. I had 2 problems with this episode. First was the lame comedy. Second problem was that why the actual f k you tell the reality of philosophy stone to 2 random freaking soldiers? It's the most ridiculous thing EVER.
