| Listed here on the Oscars website, along with a short trailer (which I can't access outside of the US) and a few shots from the film. ANN article here. I think everyone knew The Wind Rises was going to get a nomination in the animated feature film category, but I had no idea this film even existed until a day before the nominations were announced (and only because I looked up the shortlist of submitted films, haha). And I'm glad the Oscars brought it (and the other three films it came out with) to my attention, because it looks great. The last time a Japanese film was nominated (and won) in this category was in 2009, for Kunio Kato's La Maison en Petits Cubes. |
