| *spoilers* i could put this whole thread in a spoiler tag... or i can just warn you right now. Question: How do the incubators grant wishes? I haven't read the manga or seen the movies or anything else... only the anime, so is this ever revealed? I feel like what made me enjoy this show the most is that it had a pseudo-scientific explanation for almost all the paranormal phenomena in the series. except this one, which is what made it kind of stand out to me. So, we find out that the whole point of Incubators making magical girls is to harness their emotional energy when they eventually despair and turn into witches. But surely wouldn't granting any wish cost far more energy? If they had the ability to grant any wish, why not just wish for unlimited energy. the idea of wishes feels kinda deus ex machina in hindsight since everything else has a pseudo-scientific-logical explanation. |

| How do the incubators grant wishes? i'm wondering about that too, but probably it has similar law as alchemy, i.e equivalent trade. iirc, the power of the wish itself is depends on the magical girls' potential.. so to wish for unlimited energy definitely needs an exceptional magical girl. In Madoka's case, since she's the central point of karmic destiny from many different timelines, i believe she has what it takes to wish for that. Considering the final outcome, wishing to erase all the witches is still a better option though.. cmiiw |
