| So a few years ago Jessica Nigri showed up at some con dressed as Pikachu (except it was nothing but a bikini and hot pants with a giant tail) and essentially made Cosplay mainstream. Now we have large quantities of "cosplayers" like Lindsay Elise and Meg Turney who are essentially just models who cosplay on the side to be part of the newest trend. These cosplayers are generally known for taking characters and redesigning their looks to have their tits or ass hanging out, and can also be refered to as "booth girls" without losing much in the terminology switch. So do you, as an anime fan, think that source integrity is important in cosplay, or do you feel sex appeal for the sake of sex appeal is ok if (in Nigri and Turney's cases) the girl actually really is interested in anime/games/manga? Its not as though Jessica Nigri isn't actually a nerd, shes a huge anime fan and plays games on twitch all the time. But one could say taking a male character like Nathan Drake and changing his outfit so-as to have her tits hanging out is an insult to the source material. What do you think? |

| I think attention whore cosplayers are ruining cosplay, be it Nigri or /cgl/ and /a/ types. Not applicable to Nigri as she doesn't even really cosplay legitimately, but people need to keep in mind a good costume =/= the person wearing it is a good person. Sluts being sluts (like Nigri and other random sluts) are one thing, but people going around in actually well made costumes just for attention is worse if you ask me. If the person isn't doing it because of love for the character/show and just wanting to show that then they are worse. At least the sluts don't try and pretend they are doing anything BUT looking for attention, the 'good cosplayers' who are shit people are ten times less tolerable as human beings. Blatant sluts are better than disingenuous whores. To mods; I'm not talking about any users whatsoever nor even have anyone in mind. I'm simply speaking in general (aside Nigri, but I don't think that should count as rule breaking). |

But I mean, some people are just not fit for it. If you look nothing like your character you might as well be in a Halloween costume. Personally, I'm pretty honest and I'll say that I like hot cosplayers because they're good fap material. I have no problems admitting that. I just think if you're a regular person....at the very least try to look like the character you're cosplaying. Putting on a costume is not the only thing. |

| Silly OP, how can girls be ruining the cosplay when they don't even exist? It's all written in my bestselling book, Modern Myths Vol 2: The Female by Dingo. you would be surprised how few people believe me but boy are they in for a surprise when they try and do spicy things with a "girl" and realize they were believing in a fairy tale. OnT: In a way I want anime to be more mainstream, because a larger more diverse community would be better, but I also feel that becoming more mainstream would cause it to sell out, cosplay would just go downhill until you could hire squirtle to suck your penuhs. And some anime companies would go down a long with it. That being said a few tits here and there doesn't hurt, even though girls aren't even real. |

| I don't think it's ruining cosplay, but in a way it is giving cosplay a bit of a reputation. I mean, Jessica Nigri is hot, and more power to her to do whatever she wants with that (more hot people should cosplay!), but I don't entirely agree with the mainstream idea of cosplay being that it is something to be sexualized. It certainly can be, but that's not its only purpose. If I tell someone I cosplay, I don't want the first thing they think of when I say that be someone like Jessica Nigri in sexy-insert character here, because that's not what I do. Then again, cosplay will never really be a mainstream thing, and I am a 20 year old who dresses up as fictional characters as a hobby. Maybe people do have a right to judge? |
| I'm still waiting for the day someone does a decent cosplay of Neya from Infinite Ryvius. That said, if they were an ugly fat person then I would prefer that they never did it, then again I wouldn't consider that a decent cosplay. If you're changing the costumes that much, why not just go dressed in underwear? I don't think anyone will mind. |

You can easily tell if the female cosplayer is an attention whore or not. 1. If she cosplays as a very well known female/male character with cleavage then most likely she's an attention whore. 2. If it's the same as number one, but she cosplays a male/female that is little known to anime watchers, she actually likes and watches anime. 3. | Attention whores ruin everything, not just cosplaying. As with gurl-gamerz and other similar types of cancer, they sadly wont die out because most guys are also incapable of thinking with anything other than their dick. It would be nice if that weren't the case for once, for a few reasons. Like making the gaming community more friendly for female gamers in general, also making it so I don't need to suffer knowing people like Minecraft Chick or iJustine exist. |
