As crappy as animes make the ending themselves, usuall they aren't this much. Ep 12 doesn't really feel like a conclusion. So, most likely, HOPEFULLY, there will be season 3.

Yeah, totally agree with everyone else about not seeing season 3 for a few more years. This kind of reminds me of "shakugan no shana" and how long it took for them to finish the series because the nl was also ongoing when the anime started. But here's hoping we dont get fillers like season 2 of shana did. >:O

Season 2 ended at where vol 8 ended, and so far it has only been the prologue!?
Just how much story is the author planning to write? If the first 8 volumes were the prologue then this series will be at least 20 volumes.

For this series 1-cour anime covers 4 LN volumes and the pace of the novel is currently at about 2 volumes per year. So if this series will go past 20 volumes then it won't end for at least 6 years and the next anime won't be out for at least 2 years. The author should really fastened the pace to at least 3 volumes per year like it used to be.

how many seasons do you guys think this show will have total? from what i understand, this is one of the most popular light novels around. I can imagine both the author and the publisher/studio would wanna make it as long as possible if that's really the case.

Well, someone has to ask: Who thinks there will be a 3rd season of Haganai? I received an episode 11 spoiler from a friend saying Sena confessed her love to Kodaka, and that gives me the feeling they'll wrap up next episode. but I still hold out hope they'll leave it open for continuation. If this show doesn't continue on The studio and creators will be hearing from me! I'll be up in arms! But anyway do you think it will have a season 3 or not and why?

There will be a season 3, the question is when. The first two seasons have covered the first 8 Light Novels, which catching us up to what is published. At 4 novels a cour, and 2 novels published a year, it would be at least 2.5 years before a season 3 (2 years for the books, some time for production). That is a LONG time between seasons. They may go the ova route with side stories as a bridge, or they may do a reboot in the future.

Haganai Neighborhood
Seriously though I think a season 3 would be great, but if they wait too long it may end up like Shakugan no Shana where everyone lost interest within the 4 years between season 2 and 3, which caused season 3 to tank in sales.

i am not too knowledgeable about light novels, but i feel like the author should put out volumes a little faster. they can't expect us to wait 2-3 years for another season.

In general the release two LN a year. A cour (12 episode season) has covered 4. Someone said that issue 9 will be released in April, so figure April, Oct, April, Oct 2014, production and marketing could begin within a year, with an autumn 2014 release date (year and a half), with the 12th novel being released with the end in December.

That would be the earliest, unless there are some OVA's that covers side stories.

So 18 months.

I voted yes, mostly for I'm guessing/hoping for a season 3.

There was clearly a lack in a final end to the story. So I'm hoping it doesn't go way of School Rumble where it just ends :(

but that's how it feels. It really feels like things are in a purgatory of sorts. It leaves a cliffhanger on the yozora journey, but at the same time, Kodaka has friends. However with the novel series continuing its high popularity, it's highly possible it will go on. I guess we just have to hope :/

You assume that the author is only writing the LN so it can be adapted into Anime.

at the end of the episode it went to the End then it changed to next, so im gonna pretty much guarantee a 3rd season based off that + plot-holes in the finale that need to be filled.

Yes, because hinting at a sequel obviously has always resulted and will always result in a series actually getting a sequel!

well i would hope for a season 3 but i think will be hard it will depend on sales and after 2 seasons no real ending i don't know how people will react on it i mean the people who bought it.

but who knows there is always hope

IMO. There will be s3 for sure, minimum 1year of wait.
I dont think Kodaka wanted to accept Sena's confession. For me it looked more like he wanted to stay friends but then all of them got the mail from Yozora saying to not look for her. But all of them probably thought about the opposite, they will look for her in s3.
Thats just my guess

Man I can't wait for S3 for sure it's about a year wait I agree. :(
That's also my guess that Kodaka will turn down Sena because he only wants friend not relationship lol *THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIIIIP!* "ahem"

There are no news about season 3 of haganai, and there is no volume 9 launched afaik.I think they plan to release volume 9 after the movie they announced, they want to get as much cash as they can.And yes,I think he was about to explain things, when you explain such emberassing things you cant blush and it looked like, with the tone he was talking ,he was about to explain some things to her not at all confessing because himself is confused who he likes.Even thou' all the season were hints that he likes the kind of girls like Yozora so he doesnt look after a girl with a great body,he,so far, looks like he likes girl with strong personality before appeal.
As far as I remember we waited 2 years for a 2nd season lets hope there will be only 2 years of pause or less. Also lets hpe there wont be a 3rd season just for playstation and xbox like the guys from Muv-Luv Alternative:Total Eclipse did with launching the 2nd season as a game.

The series is apparently only 1/3 done according to the author.

it's also been said that the author was sick or something and so volume 9 was delayed.

90% sure there will be season 3 by 2014 or 2015 (hopefully the former)

also with a live-action film planned to be released sometime this year or next (?), there's much more to come for Haganai.

hoping the series ends with Kodaka x Sena though

Where'd you get that info? That according to the author the series is 1/3 done?

a live-action movie? Are you talking about a movie about Hanagai or a movie that the studious that did/are doing Hanagai are currently working for that has nothing to do with Hanagai itself?

Also, most of you, if not all mentioned, either a possible 3 season or OVA's but why aren't you guys considering a movie, K-ON style?

Yozora said she's on a journey now, that, for me, hints at a big adventure of getting her back to be the Neighbours club president. A plot for a movie to end it all?

Also the fact that Sena already confessed her love to Kodoka.. how'd they going to keep a series when this is out there? Will Sena say that she was only lying for such and such reason (of course we all know she wasn't lying) so we can continue with the N. Club activities like nothing happened?

Anyways, I'm happy that this season ended with at least Rika and Konoka realizing AND saying that they're friends. From episode 1 it was pretty obvious that they all would become great friends but no-one would say it/realize it. I was pretty tense that they didn't even consider themselfes as friend. Luckily we have Rika, she's great.

It seems that my post has disappeared from yesterday, strange. I don't remember what I wrote yesterday, but oh well.

I think that season 3 will have a kinda Sena and Kodaka relationship, but it will struggle amidst events in the club. I also think that Hinata will fight against Sena for Kodaka, who knows..Yozora could very well come back and cause more chaos.

Regarding the series being 1/3rd done, it was said by the author during volume 8's release.

Also the fact that the ending scene with Sena and Kodaka was not in volume 8 means that there's definitely more to come. The author added it in (I believe he's the write for the anime, or the script writer?) The ending was a cliffhanger to hint us that there's more to come. The anime is doing very well commercially from what I know, and there's some great amount of popularity. The movie will definitely cash in more money for production as well.

Given volume 8 marks the end of the prologue, I kind of think that the author might advance the clock... maybe to the point where Kodaka starts his third year. That's how some prolouges work (with epilouges usually advancing the clock far into the future).

I hope the series continues smoothly. I was kind of sad when a fallout occured to another LN series similar to this one.

Oh,btw check the facebook profile from time to time, you get the fastest news there. But be warned alot of meat in there.

I want this series to run for many seasons. I love everything about it. I hope that the author doesn't make Sena run off and Yozora confess. I want Kodaka to end up with Sena. I think Kodaka couldn't accept the confession because it shocked him, and he is concerned about Yozora. Sure he definitely has romantic feelings for Yozora and Sena. This dilemma will have to work itself out after they find Yozora. This might be seasons in the future. I think Yozora will make a push for Kodaka at some point, and then it will be an all out competition. Hopefully Sena wins, cuz i kind of hate Yozora.

The series' ending looked to me like it was definitely designed to lead onto another series (especially with the very last shot...no spoilers for you who may not have seen it yet). However, the anime industry in weird. Even if a new series is planned they could just cancel it due to business reasons. And lets be honest there was a small conclusion in a way for Kodaka in the last episode and that could be reason to leave it there. I HOPE there will be a season 3 but I'm not holding my breath.

I have skimmed through this topic and agree that they really should do a season three. I haven't read any of the light novels and haven't researched anything on this supposed movie, but while there are some things they could get away with by ending it on season 2's last episode, there is still a lot of room to continue. Many have set the light novel continues and after the last scene, after what happened in the end of season 2, I don't want to see it end like that.

I would like a 3rd season, but it is an anime so I say that depends solely on sales. The blurays for NEXT have been delayed twice I think (maybe more) so the final volume doesn't even come out until December I believe. I think that might hurt sales, but maybe it would improve them perhaps it is even a delay because of some sort of ova in the works? Volume 9 come out this month I think.

Let's not forget there was a 2 year or so delay between the first and second seasons. It hasn't even been a year and there hasn't been a new volume released until hopefully this month. I also read they were having issues with Buriki (original illustrator) doing the jacket art. I don't know what that was about. I don't know what all he has on his plate, but they haven't done a volume of the light novel in a while and I don't know how many pictures are really in it so I wouldn't think he was that busy.

And someone asked about the movie. I read there is a live action movie in the works. There was a casting call posted at an university for it. It would be distributed by Toei and produced by Times-in I think. Hirasaka (LN writer) said no because the story wasn't intended for live action (which personally couldn't agree with more), but he changed his mind due to the "crisis in the light novel industry". Which in my kind of English boils down to money if you ask me. Though he will have a completely hands off role. That may bode well for a 3rd season though. If he would agree to a live action despite being against it. I would think that means his wallet is getting thin. I guess it could be to drum up interest in the LN, but I think that would be more harmful than good especially if it's horrible like other live action adaptions. Besides I would assume a movie would bring more business to the anime or even mange rather than the LN. Though it maybe different in Japan either way I guess some of it always goes into his pocket. I got most of the details of Wikipedia so take it with a grain of salt. But I have read about the casting calls from several sources though with movies that is subject to change on a whim.

Haganai is doing well . They ran out of material source so they paused it.
Also , it was marked as "End" because , as I said it back then and now I'm saying it again , the anime has reached it's purpose ..... they , now , are friends . The only reason they continue this is because of fans . The author himself said that the novel supposed to end there but because he let himself carried by the fans he gone out of the normal course.

The delay was due to Buriki. The covers were supposed to feature his art, but they are going to without them for the rest of the Blu-Rays. It was rumored that he's not feeling well.

They have already casted Kodaka and Yozora.

Seto Koji will play Kodaka
Kitano Kie will play Yozora

No word on who will play Sena yet. The directors are probably being extremely careful on this part as to not upset the fans.

The movie will be a spinoff of the anime and LN series.

The ending of Season 2 greatly hints that there will in fact, be a Season 3. Once the manga has gone past what they're going to cover in the anime, it'll be aired shortly after that like the other two.
