Episode 9 of Clannad and Episode 17 of Clannad: After Story I cried like a baby without a bottle lmao, haven't cried so much during anime like that. Of course throughout the second half of After Story, if I didn't cry I was pretty much crying inside so much that I didn't have any tears to get out on the outside. After Story is pretty much the ultimate sequel to ANYthing and I'm sure a lot of people know it's more of a history mark in anime.

Throughout atleast 70% of Clannad and Clannad: After Story combined, I had the biggest feeling stuck on my throat

Really? Personally I found 17 to be the least sad of all the episodes from 15 onwards.

Exactly the same here + Misae-san's cat mini-arc.
And in Clannad:
the part when Kotomi gets the bear.

What a flawed and ignorant statement. You do realize crying can be part of the enjoyment?

I've yet to actually CRY like legitimately cry because of a series. HOWEVER there were definitely times in clannad AS where there were tears in my eyes, and there were a few scenes where some tears actually fell ;-; Gahd Ushio look what you've done.

For some reason I felt really melancholic the entire time I watched this anime. I was sad a lot of the time but it was the type of sadness where you are in shock, not the crying kind. But still, just because you don't cry doesn't mean the anime didn't affect you emotionally, because it definitely did for me.

Got misty-eyed during Misae arc, cried during episode 16 (and pretty much cried every time I remembered it), cried a bit episode 17 (at the stairs, when Tomoya remembers Nagisa), cried almost the ENTIRE second half of episode 18, during the card game with Fuko in episode 19, after you-know-what happened in episode 21, and I watched episode 22 with my eyes full of tears, so I had to watch it again.

And I ended up crying again.

I did my absolute best and held it all in until a certain part. I don't know how to hide a spoiler so I'll just type it after hitting space a couple of times.

SPOILER! SCROLL TO THE NEXT POST IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ IT:

Ushio dies during the climax of this anime. The feeling of Tomoya (is that his name?) losing the last thing he had in this world that he loved after making amends with his father and finally taking Ushio in to be his daughter after 5 years of neglecting her, yeah. I cried. It was so sad and everything went rock bottom not only for him, but for me too. Then to find out it all actually didn't happen and that Nagisa successfully gave birth to her and lived? It was all a big headfake to me and it was so quick too, as I was in the middle of crying for the first situation, that I ended up still tearing up for the second, but in much more of a relieved manner. This was such a damn good watch. I can't ever watch again though.

Anyone who cries because of some stupid anime plot is an extremely sensitive individual who needs serious help!

Consult a psychiatrist or something.

Not trying to be tough, but the only time I remember I had a genuine misty eye was watching episode 3 of Kaiba, the story alone already made me sad from the inside, and the soundtrack and the story telling made the scene so memorable that after 6 years I still remember everything from that episode. I did get a little bit of tear from Clannad AS, but I always felt cheated that the show happened to push my buttons, not because the story itself is believable or amazing. That's the point I realize the combine power of good soundtrack, fluid animation and great voice acting and after that I become more critical since it's too easy to overrate everything when you are on a high emotional state.
