| Aoyama's definitely the type of girl most guys can easily fall for, but I still think Shiina is by far the more interesting of the two. To be fair, Aoyama isn't as much as a tsundere as I expected her to be, but her character comes out of a pretty common mold. Like someone mentioned above, the idiot savant -- even though it's not totally uncommon -- is relatively fresh. Besides, Shiina's character runs far deeper than that of someone who simply doesn't know jack about the world. If she was just dumb, then the argument would lean heavily toward Aoyama's favor. |

| I like both but Aoyama wins for me. She was a little annoying in the start of the series but she's better now. Shiina may be a genius but she is way too dependent on Sorata. Aoyama is actually doing pretty good in this poll. I expected a much bigger gap going by MAL's favorites. |

Aoyama is kind of helping Shiina "question" her relationship with Sorata ( She is getting a bit frustated "jealous" with Aoyama in the way). I think ever since she's moved in to Sakurasou the anime has gone from an '8' to a '6' because it immediately became predictable and cliche (oh what would we do without a tsundere turning the main relationship into a freaking love triangle). As I recall this anime is called 'The pet girl of...' but recently I haven't seen Kanda taking care of Shiina much? That's what made me interested and even though it could potentially become repetitive, it's what the whole anime is based on! not Aoyama's troubles which I simply couldnt give a toss about? oh you worked hard and youve got family problems boo hoo who doesnt. But let's be honest though, Kanda is probably one of the most annoying male characters, indecisive, boring, always a sissy, he cockblocks this whole anime himself to be fair... |

| I don't usually like emotionless types (I found Kanade in Angel Beats! a really lame character), but I like Mashiro a lot. I think the main difference that really gets me is that her personality is justified with her artistic talent. I don't understand how people see her as being lazy - she spends upwards of 10 hours a day working on her art. That's pretty impressive. It might be less impressive than Aoyama's strictness on herself, but is Mashiro actually doing anything wrong? When she has talent, spending all her time on what she enjoys is exactly what she should be doing. The fact that she can't take care of herself and all that balances her out. Would you rather she work herself to death at part-time jobs like Aoyama while happeneing to be extraordinarily talented at art? To me, that would just be a waste. As for Aoyama, she's an incredibly strong character. She's not blessed with talent the same way Mashiro is, but she works so hard that it's hard to not be impressed with her. Yes, she's annoying and stubborn, but that's pretty realistic. Do you think that people with dedication won't stand up for themselves even when other people think they're mistaken? How does that make any sense? Anyways, even though it's justified, I still find Aoyama a bit annoying, so it's actually a really close race between the two heroines. Aoyama is the underdog though, so my vote goes there. |

| woah. it's actually a lot closer than i though it would be. i voted aoyama because of personal bias. she's sorta a tsundere and she wants to be a voice actor. extremely shy and stuff but over aggressive when it comes to some things. i kinda... see myself in her. sooo... |
| Aoyama. She's way better than Shiina in many ways. Even if most people find her character very generic, I can really relate on her struggles as a student in an arts school in the story as well as her affection towards Sorata which absolutely depicts the situations in real life such as (her reactions towards something in the whole series) whereas Shiina on the other hand, her character who does weird stuffs such as not caring at her stuffs at all and being all too dependent to someone to the extent of letting the person do all the personal things/hygiene to him/her for you, doesn't really much exists. So.. Aoyama for the win! Though I like them both. Aoyoma will definitely shine this time! |

| I really do not hold anything against Aoyama, however for me she is just a plain and boring character which has been overdone in anime way too much. She's way too passive and tsundere for my liking. The most stupidest about this kind of girl is that they only take action whenever they "sense danger". Would they ever make a move if no one moved in the picture? Damn. |
