Ihei is a masterless samurai and fencing expert. Ihei comes to the attention of Lord Shigeaki, who hires him as fencing instructor for Lord Shigeaki's men. But Ihei's expertise causes friction and jealousy in Shigeaki's castle and his future there comes into doubt. Trailer (in French): Ame Agaru is an interesting turning point in the cinema of Japan- Takashi Koizumi takes over the reigns of Akira Kurosawa having worked as his assistant director on many projects. The result is a film that is often assessed as trying to be a Kurosawa film but not quite achieving that. This view is probably minimalistic however. Koizumi is very aware of his directorial differences, though he does polemicise Kurosawa's style. |
