Comedy anime have their jokes changed when they are dubbed, so if you want jokes in your country's culture then pick dubbed. If you wish to watch an anime with the original japanese jokes then pick subbed. I haven't watched the dubbed, but the original's voices are pretty good, they really fit their characters. |

The only reason to watch the sub is for Mechazawa but that's not a good enough reason especially because the dub's Mechazawa is very good too. If someone said to watch the dub of NGE or Love Hina because they're better for example, I'd tell them that they're retarded because that comment is definitely incorrect. EDIT: Relevant video. |

I didn't watch the video this time but I think I've watched it before, probably something about fitting an anime for their audience, and how dubbed anime will have jokes and other references fitting to the culture of the intended audience rather than leaving in the Japanese references, which doesn't make it bad. So I guess you're saying the English dub is objectively better to english speaking viewers. Which is wrong depending on what you are trying to get out of it. If you want the original Japanese voice with the references(which doesn't mean that someone is a weeaboo) then the sub is better, if you want the jokes tailored to your culture then you go with the dub. Though why someone would want to watch a Japanese comedy show in dubs is beyond me, when there's family guy and other comedies already made from the beginning for the same audience.And who are you to call someone a weeaboo if they pick the Japanese for Mechazawa's voice, you say that it's not a good reason, but that's not true for everyone. And weeaboo is a derogatory slur for someone who prefers everything Japanese above their own culture, uses Japanese words and wanting to be Japanese. Even if the dub was better, that doesn't mean that someone would fit that definition. And even if someone correctly recommends the right langauge(which is a 50% chance even if it was random) doesn't make them intelligent. |
