I would say that I really liked the episode, but kinda sad that they killed off Kanade, who was... how should I say this.... my favorite character for a few minutes? I know that it was made in a way to be shocking, but I'm now kinda pissed as I don't like Hibiki who will obviously take place as a main. |

| I have no idea what I just watched, but I loved it! The concert scene was a pure winner. I had Macross Frontier feelings the whole time. I also liked how they mixed up the English and German words for certain terms. 13 episodes seems a bit short, but it might be great if they don't ruin it. |

| I was a bit confused in the beginning. Things seemed a bit melodramatic at first, someone just balling at a grave for someone we don't care about. And then we get a flashback right after, and I immediately begin to think that the writers are lazy if they're just gonna get right to the point like this. But the concert was entertaining, and the combat and flair wasn't bad. The show is a bit darker than I was expecting. I LOL'ed at the named attacks and had a bit of a Panty & Stocking flashback. I'll be interested to see if this show can keep my interest. It seems to be trying really hard to go with this musical concept. But I can't fault the show for trying.  |

I am really hoping this ain't so, even if she did look like she got disintegrated. >.> Both Kanade and Tsubasa looked just beautiful and their personality looked really good. Love these two already. Wait wasn't that Miku mourning for Hibiki in the beginning? Hibiki suddenly transforms into the same suit that Kanade did. And Miku said she died singing on the battlefield, is this what is about to happen? What is going on lols. Songs were great, can't wait for the soundtracks to come out. Great art too. Unexpected massive development in the first episode, wow it was great. Then they leave it off at a cliffhanger, just awesome. Really looking forward to this anime. | Even if Hibiki did get the powers from Kanade (who is alive in her body... WTF is that kind of theory?) and if she ends up looking like her it won't be the same. The drama in the beginning could mean that Hibiki will take over the ''lost partner seat'' with look, persona and everything, while making others believe that original Hibiki is dead. Or not... this show can basically go ether way. They can do a rewind and tell a story from the beginning when Kanade and Tsubasa first started for all I know. All I can say is that Hibiki surviving instead of Kanade is a horrible trade-off, like some stated already here. Because the plot looks messed up and even if everything was crap, I would have watched it because of Kanade but now.... meh. I'll give it a few more episodes and see where it goes. What I do want from this show is that it influences future Ar Tonelico games wannabe and we have female characters who fight and sing at the same time. XD |

The singing is just... horrendous and the animation is... below average at best. We already have Guilty Crown continuing its trainwreck into this year, can we not have another one? I hope I'm proven wrong. Sigh... looks like it will be another decade till we get another "Madoka" tier anime. |

It is effective to have heroes fight/help in general vicinity of a disastorous and show nameless characters running around dying. When it comes time to create a more personal feeling the scene will switch to a a small group(sometimes as small as one) that only a hero can reach and this rescue scene becomes even more personal if the victims are named characters. BTW I am not describing the scene in Symophogear, that is just how every hero action-rescue scene has plays out. Kanade was worn out and at the end of her power. She had an immediate decision to make; try to save Hibiki with her dying breath, wait to see if Tsubasa would make it to her in time, or run away to safety leaving Hibiki to die. If Tsubasa showed up at the last minute I can see you and of other people bitching about how trite and cliched that was. Running away would have been different but outside of comedies such action is really out of place. The singing is just... horrendous and the animation is... below average at best. My ass the singing is below average. Tsubasa and Kanade are voiced by two highly gifted singer/voice actors. Sigh... looks like it will be another decade till we get another "Madoka" tier anime. I don't see what that has to do this. So fucking what if Symphogear isn't god tier. There's still room for it to be just plain ole "good". So far it has already managed to shrug off a lot of the preconceptions people here had about when we only had the press release to go on. |

Also is it just me or is Noise the name of the enemy of another show as well ............. Of course, instead of saving the people getting shot at and eaten by the Noise, the orange hair girl decides that she has suddenly save this little girl, someone whom she does not have any interaction with beforehand, instead of saving the dozens of other people getting killed, because she tripped an scrapped her knee. I don't know, but getting killed seems far worse than having your knee scrapped. It would maybe make sense if they knew each other beforehand, but they didn't... If there was a stranger held at gunpoint and another stranger that fell and scrapped their knee, which one would you help? Yes, I understand the need for a personal touch, but there has to be a reason... I think the creators are going for the shock factor ( characters dying - see any parallels with recent anime =D ) and it's failing dismally. You have to be able to relate the characters before them dying has any emotional impact. Let me correct myself on the singing. I'm not saying their voices are bad. I'm saying the JPOP is generic and the concert scene, which should be one of the crowning moments in the episode, was not invested in terms of animation quality. And for an anime which I assume will be about music, they are no so much using the music to accentuate the situations presented, but they do so in order to sell more CDs... Instead of immersion, I'm taken right out of the anime... hence, why I personally feel this situations to be comical than serious. |
