Maybe people don't feel like doing moe after so much moe the last few years. Though K-ON was one of the first shows doing it in such a extensive way if I'm right. Or maybe Haruhi was just more popular. Or they are waiting for the BD raw to show up.
I'm actually just making something up, I have no idea.

I think you should actually try watching it raw. It is a really great way to practice your language skills - and K-On isn't really that demanding linguistically. Just try, you may get surprised about how much you'll actually understand :)

I think everyone needs to calm down a little XD.

The movie just came out like today. And there are no BD raws yet. Translating the entire movie will take time, and some groups are probably waiting for the BD.

I would wait at least a week before speculating there is no interest or something.

Yes. It is a little hilarious to think "there's no interest in K-On". It has one of the biggest fan bases I've ever seen.

Indeed, I watched it raw and it was just fine. Of course I did miss a good amount of the dialogue, but watching it as it is now and a second time with subtitles in a few days is the best way to go about it.

Guys chill yo nips, we can't just shit subs out in a day. The movie's a lot of work to do it nicely, and it took the TL like 4 hours to do 30 minutes of it. Songs are done, raws being downloaded, give it a couple more days and be patient!

I get it now. Fansub needs nice quality raw to subbed( which usually come from DVD). And the interval between the airing date and the DVD release is more than a half year. That's explain why K-ON Movie subs are sprouting this months.

There is like 2 weeks delay in my recent reading list
I randomly bought discount/second hand manga with cute/mysterious cover.

Use Personal Blacklist extension in Chrome if you just want to Google for a series synopsis, without google slapping MAL score in it.

Not necessarily. There was the case where Mazui subbed the camrip version of the Haruhi movie which was sort of tilted on one side but slightly watchable still xD

Most groups however, aren't willing to go that far any more. So they are waiting for the BD before subbing it.

There are now two (1838Kbps and 35.4Mbps) 1080p BD rips out now btw... so it shouldn't be long now for subs to actually be released in excellent quality.

We were actually waiting to download the raw BD files (from the disc) ourselves instead of the low quality encodes available. Since the entire archive on japanese sharing networks was 80gb, you can imagine it took a while...

That's not necessarily the main reason. One of the reasons, sure, but I believe the main reason is that camrips of anime movies are just very rare. I don't know whether Japanese theaters have that good security, or Japanese people don't do camrips, but most anime movies just don't have camrips and thus don't exist on the Internet until the DVD/BD release.

Frostii are pretty much dead, so I doubt that. (It would be nice, though.)
We're the same. Nuisances with nowhere to go.

I wonder about that too. In America almost every movie has some cam release if it is popular enough. It is normally of passable quality too. I wonder why they are so rare in Japan and why the ones that do exist look so awful.

I think I'm going to do what I did with Haruhi, which is watch the movie first and then go backwards if I like it.

That, and they got bored with the show (hence why they needed over half a year to finish S2), quit doing the live gigs and though they showed some mild interest in subbing the movie several times, I think it would take a miracle for them to do it.

Heck, the folks at gg (who helped Jaka sub for Coalguys) complained that timing this was a bitch to do, so unless Frostii gets really motivated, I'll stick with Coalguys (whose work on K-ON! I always liked, despite Frostii being superior).

I think it's both. When I was in Japan, the impression we got that not only do they have many more people who work for cleaning and security than they do in Denmark, and at the same time, Japan has an extremely low crime rate, and people don't seem to throw trash on the streets and what not.

It got...better? I updated VLC, but now it's just a green screen (as opposed to an error within 10 seconds)

Don't use VLC. It's a fine media player, but lacks support for some codecs.
Use CCCP (it has codecs and also MPC-HC, the most stable/fast media player). It's probably the best solution for anime viewing (or video viewing in general for that matter).

Movie relies heavily on the characters and the emotional attachment formed to them in the first two seasons, so I wouldn't recommend watching the movie before the series.
