Actually now that I think about it....Saber would make more sense if she would've been Joan of Arc.

Sorry SUPER HARDCORE F/SN and F/Z fans.....but, being King Arthur has never made any sense whatsoever!

However a blonde woman who was courageous, fought in battles, and actually DID pretend to be a man (Joan of Arc), make a lot more sense!

Well, whatever, I don't really mind Saber being King Arthur.....it just doesn't make sense.
It doesn't have to make sense. Type-Moon originally made the story with the real King Arthur and a female protagonist called Sajyou Ayaka but the producers considered a female protagonist wouldn't do well for the target audience so it was changed into Shirou and Arturia. The more you know.

Where is the donation box to give funds for them to remake that? Thanks.

Episode felt weak to me. My opinion of the series hasn't changed--I still think it's fantastic--but nothing in this episode got me excited, neither driving nor a building explosion, which I doubt actually achieved anything.

OMGAWD at that driving scene. The animation style clashed so hard. Cartoons inside CG? Wut.

Wait...so he's actually Gilles de Rais and not Bluebeard? It's kind of weird seeing them mix the two characters into one. I also don't remember ever learning that he loved Joan/Jeanne.

Lol, is Kayneth intimidated by that woman? Although it looks like she fell under Lancer's spell.

Dayum! Taking that whole building down? Quite rash, but I guess he at least cares enough to let everyone else get out.

Amazing as always. Judging by what they're saying/screaming in the preview, seems like something exciting is gonna happen. Cant wait for the next one, I wish this is a friday show instead, fits my sched. Hoping it goes to 1st place or somewhere near soon.

this episode is purely a tension build-up episode, after all...

Bluebeard tale is believed to be inspired from Gilles de Rais.

Well, maybe they didn't chose Joan of Arc because she doesn't has any trademark weapons to be made her Noble Phantasm. Besides, the Arthurian legend is more well-known than the story of Joan of Arc, so choosing Saber as King Arthur would be beneficial to the publicity of F/SN.

And the fact that she was made female allows for more character development in F/Z, and that would be the story behind Saber and Berserker which would be unfold later (what was made for publicity in F/SN, becomes inspiration for development in F/Z... nice job, Urobuchi).

I would like to see Saber as the real King Arthur too, though.
It will be very interesting, as long as they won't transform him into some enthusiastic young boy with character similar to Shirou :D. It would be way much better to make him a GAR badass.

No, Nasu was quoted admitting the change from male to female was purely a business decision in order to ensure the maximun amount of sales for the eroge. The use of Arthurian legend however was just Nasu's personal taste. In other words, he liked the legend. And you'd be the surprised the kind of Overpowered Noble Phantasms and skills Joan of Arc has in Apocrypha. She's even of the Rules Class, overseer of the Holy Grail.

You're like the guy who will always question a joke.

Comic :"why did the chicken cross the road?"
You: "Who the fuck let chickens cross the road, it doesn't make sense"

That's a huge exaggeration and has nothing to do with what I was saying...

Sure it DOESN'T have to make sense, but I believe they did it because having a good looking female character as the face of their VN is a lot more profitable than a dude.

HELL, why not make Saber Alexandra the great?

I'm not really raging about this issue, I'm just saying that since Joan of Arc was mentioned, it made me think that would've made more sense than King Arthur.

WOW and i TOTALLY thought Caster was Dracula (based on the accent and general creepiness) wowwwwwwwwww was i fooled bigtime. No wonder the blue beard thing didn't make sense. (after checking wikipedia it falls into place). Even though Dracula probably is more magical/casterish than a French knight who murders children.. >_>

I was also confused as well at Jeanne (of Arc) instead of Joan.... then Wiki saved me again there because Jeanne was apparently the French version of what is known as Joan in english.

Actually, I've always thought Saber being female added a complexity to her character that just wouldn't have been there if she had been male and i also think her gender makes sense in the Fate/stay universe. Thinking of it as a "what if" scenario it's actually pretty cool imo. I hate to beat a dead horse, but in the VN her gender is actually a big part of what defines her character and actions. So, I'd argue that her being female was ultimately the right choice.

Casters real name has been confirmed tho i wonder if he will ever excepts Saber's true identity.
There is certainly allot wrong with him and those poor kids that suffered or are going to suffer because of him just sad.
Hopefully he will be taken care of quickly.

Lancers masters didn't see the explosion coming seems his defense didn't help much with that.
I wonder if they survived.

Caster wasn't even listening to Saber, he's trapped in his own delusions. I didn't really expect him to be another insane Servant aside from Berserker, who by the nature of his class is insane by default.

Devious "solution" there by Kiritsugu. Kayneth and his vaunted defenses got TOLD. He might as well be the first Master casualty of the war, but Waver seems to still have business with him, so there could be a small chance that the story won't dispose of him this early in. If he manages to survive, then perhaps Caster and his Master would be the first ones to fall.

Maybe Kirei and Gilgamesh will work together? Hope so, I agree with Gilgamesh that Tokiomi is boring.
I still really dislike Caster and his Master.

After 6 episodes I`m disappointed. Servants are really weird, especially rider... There`s no one matching Archer from Fate/Stay night, and even the presence of Saber and Gilgamesh can`t help it. I only hope that berserker will be interesting...
The characters of masters are very poor, most of them are lacking developed background story. And i fear that there wouldn`t be any good drama or romance here comparable with the Fate/Stay night storyline.

On the other hand, this show is still interesting to watch...

First of all romance was never really a big thing in the Fate franchise. If your in it for drama and romance go watch some Toradora.

I think your the first to claim that the servants are really weird, and going by the way your talking you've probably only seen the FSN anime. Fate zero has much more interesting masters then the FSN(anime). In the first episode of Zero they already show us their reasons for fighting the grail, and it's no longer just some childish war.

i wholeheartedly agree with you. also, the romance in the FSN-anime sucked big time.. well, the whole anime sucked but oh well.. ("people die if they are killed" ;D)

and seriously, what's wrong with rider? his personality is priceless. without him, it would be a whole lot less entertaining..

Alright, thanks for the clarification. Btw, I really liked how they did Gil's reflection in his wine glass, with I guess the universe or something (since that's what he had just mentioned) reflecting as well. Really cool.

Typical ufotable...to animate all the cars and little details while the building was coming down, such attention to detail.
From the preview, Lancer is still around, and good thing they explicitly didn't show any scenes of Lancer's master meeting his end; I still hope Lancer is the one that kills his master.

And good to see that Irisviel has a childish and funny side.
