Alternative Nav -> Alternative Layout (It's a new style. you can remove the old)!

Oh and if my themes doesn't please you, have alook at what my fellow themers has to offer:
suffix's Themes and 5hRreDDy's Themes

=== HELP! ===
Should you run into problems I'm availble on IRC most of the time.
The network is irc.rizon.net and my nicks are:
Kimiko, Kotone, Miho, Ping, Zealotus and Zherlthsh.
(I know, quite a few but I have several clients connected and I don't always bother going back to my main nicks after a disconnect)
I'm in #myanimelist, #MalUpdater and a few others...

=== Credits ===
I must give credit to aoikishu for answering questions while I haven't been around.
And also great thanks to Mathes for making the base of this theme. (Found here and here)
Bastvera for first writing the code for the Side Nav used in the Alternative Layout.

Great job. The rounded corners style looks good when used with my themes as well. ^^

==== NOTICE! ====
This is done by using Stylish, an addon for Firefox that lets you modify the CSS of any web page. And it's 100% client side.

Stylish can be found on the official Firefox addons site here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2108
And more styles can be found on userstyles.org

For Opera and Chrome users: Load it as a user script.
( I'm not using Opera or Chrome my self, so I'm unable to give support for those I'm afraid. )
( But chances are there's somone else who will be able to help. )

Again! This is not official!

Oh and by the way... If you like the idea of themes you should take a look here.

I like it, although I prefer bright pages, yours is very calming. The only complaint I have is that the links are a little too dark. Its nice though, I like the MyAnimeList font.

To .4 instead of .8 (I think it was in your theme).

If you mean the navigator it fades in when you hover over it. As explained above ;)

I would love some new design on this site, but not a new style on the old design when I think the old one is good enough

Yes, but i use red instead of a pretty dark/grey blue so it is still pretty bright.
I'd just suggest putting the opacity for the not hover a bit lower. (but if you think it's fine that way, ok) ;)

Hmm. It seems that my Firefox is currently stuck with this theme since all MAL pages remain dark even though I've tried changing it back to the regular page style. Then again, it's probably a bug on my side (having 40-80 tabs open probably isn't a good idea).

Another thing, the ads aren't showing up anymore.

Easy thing first. The ads doesn't show because they're display:none :P

As for the theme being stuck...
Try unloading all styles affecting MAL (globals too if you have any) and then reload the page.

Tried that and restarting FF as well but things only went back to normal after restarting the pc. Probably an error in the Stylish addon rather than the theme script itself.

Is there a way to make it exclude parts of the site? I really do like the style, but it screws with people's lists. So having an override to ignore http://myanimelist.net/animelist/* would be nice.

After some light use, found this url was missing.

http://myanimelist.net/history

You might also want to think about changing the color/size of the "MyAnimeList.net" header, it's quite bright compared to the rest of the theme, the size isn't that bad, maybe get it to fit inside the bar itself.

Aside from that, I love the theme, it's made MAL much easier for me to browse - all that white hurt my eyes during the night browsing.

Thanks for letting me know :)

As for the header:
I was kinda thinking of a big neon sign on a building when I made it.
And therefore the white colour and glow effect.
As for it's size I jut felt it looked coller if it was slightly larger than the bar.
Also it fits the big-sign-on-a-building idea since it isn't unusual to put a sign that way.
And last but not least: It made is stand out so that people that would pass by on a LAN-party, let's say... DreamHack, would still recognize the site ;)

Perfect. :D

Also, It just came to my mind that...
To be able to see the screenshots on userstyles.org in full size you have to load a custom style for it... :P
I've been using that for too long so I thought that it was default...
Untill I entered the site in the purpose of getting my own style ( oh the irony ). :P
Anyhow, great initiative :)

I've started on a C.C. Theme for MAL and want some feedback on the colours.

Change this error message for exceptions thrown outside of an action (like in Dispatcher setups or broken Ruby code) in public/500.html

any way to prevent that?

ah, but now im rest assured that its not the opera browser's problem, but the site.

seriously, after that trojan attack problem (1 day after new years no doubt x-x), my computer is having problems. even firefox is considered dead to me now.

ah. question. where did you get that image in your avatar? i want to use it (if theres a larger size) for something for a friend.

The only way I've found to get it working on Opera involves styles and even then it overwrites every page, including the animelists.
I only use it to check if alpha transparency works and whatnot. It's very useful to have that ability but I wouldn't want to browse MAL with the Night Theme, it reminds me of the dark ages of the intarnets.
If you want me to show you how to use it in that capacity just send me a message or something.

well i mostly was going to choose the dark/red theme since i can see it more better than dark/blue. also the default 'contrast B/W' makes it so images get these white borders around it, making a sig with 5 slices annoying to look at.

meh, ill just open my firefox a quick second whenever i need to see how the sigs look like in dark theme, no need for the hassle. thanks anyways kuroshiroi

The issue where anime and manga lists styles were overwritten is solved :P
The style no longer applies to the entire myanimelist.net domain but rather a long list of url-prefixes. ;)

That only works on Mozilla Firefox, hence the @-moz-document url line at the beginning. Those lines actually do work in Opera if you use the custom css option but then the style is applied after the whole page loads resulting in the white->black switch on every page which gets old very fast.
Using styles gets rid of that issue but also applies the theme to the lists.

Unless I'm missing something important.
