Mahoshoujo Madoka Magika is the anime that possesses the largest number of awards till now and is acknowledged by the Japanese government. So it is officially the 'greatest' anime of all times. I think you seriously underestimated this piece.
If you think this is some childish show by its first apperances, then at least make it to episode 3 :P

I’d say yeah I wasn’t a big fan of the magical girl genre besides sailor moon but the take this anime has on the genre made it one of my favs. If you don’t like it by the end of 3 probably isn’t for you. But worst thing you can say is you tried and didn’t like it

I didn't know whether to watch Madoka Magica either the first time I thought about it, but I gave it a try and it has become one of my all time favourite anime, and even movie 3: Rebellion has just made it even more amazing! I'd say definitely give it a try, at the end of episode 3 maybe your mind will be made up then, because that's when the true nature of the show is starting to be revealed.
