Should I read The Three Kingdoms before watching this?

Not sure if anyone will even respond to this, but is it recommended to go into this with Three Kingdoms knowledge? Or would a complete noob be okay?

You do not have to read three kingdoms to grasp what goes on in this anime, it defers from the original three kingdoms story.
