Gardening or some shiiiiiiz... And then, at least once an episode, we get a ?flashback? of Military men fighting, and some dude name Lucian Butzer absolutely annihilating an entire squadron of knights.

So yeah, I'm really not sure. But I adore Slice of Life, so... ;;^_^

Mell-chan ended up being one of my favorite girls of 2022. She never failed to put a smile on my face!

I understand why this show has the sort of rating that it did; I truly and absolutely do. In the end, it SHOULD have just been marketed as a Slice of Life anime.

If it HAD BEEN? Heck. This may have been among the highest rated Slice of Life anime among MAL...PERIOD. However it tried to be something that it wasn't, and that's what has led to its <6 rating.

Myself however, I loved it. When "THOSE" moments showed up, I just turned my brain off and waited for the kawaii gals to return!!!

I've to say finding the parallels of Arsnotoria and Plato's Allegory of the Cave- that alone required me intensive analysis, which I spoke of elsewhere. And to think there was even more to discover in this already highly interpretative anime. A story-within-a-story is in fact hidden (it's so-to-speak 'occult') in the beginning episodes of the anime.

In 1 they're in the cave-or rather within the confines of the Academy. It's where, in the allegory, someone would tell them of the world outside where not all is shadows. A world that has the light of the Sun; a subtle titledrop. The Pentagrams heed the call, while the knights are those who reject it. They're those who in the allegory refuse to leave the cave.

It's thus that 2 follows with them out of the halls with the sun to guide them-that they're in the world outside is something one might not even pay attention to had they not noticed the analogue of the Garden and Eden, so intricately woven is the narrative. They run to the world outside and thus 3 is merely the aftermath wherein Sun completes its cycle, likewise it's no coincidence that episode 4 is about the stars they see above.

Indeed, when the Greeks first looked to the sky and admired the regularity of the rotations of the stars and planets, what they were admiring, according to the Gnostics, was not the image of divinity, but the image or representation of a “divine” stagnancy, a law and order that stifled freedom, which is the root of desire (cf. Jonas, pp. 260-261).

When one beholds the true nature of the world, is it good? That's the kind of question any show alluding to the allegory perhaps ought but struggle to answer, and this sets the stage for the remainder of Smile of Arsnotoria Sun! - the animation.
