I have been experiencing problems watching the movie, due to the subtitles fucking up completley, not only the typical overtyping problem that is a trademark for VLC, but the subtitles sometimes span over the lenght of the entire screen, and thus are cut off on the edges...
So...anyone knows a trick to handle this, another player to use or something?

There are some problems too when you're having an old PC, just like mine. Better download CoreAVC Pro and disable deinterleaving and deblocking; also use Overlay Mixer. Although you won't view the best quality that the video was encoded to, atleast your playback won't be crappy.

I suggest installing the required Codecs only for playback and use MPC external filters for the codecs you installed. ^^

For experience, Codec Packs are buggy.

Why bump such an old thread? Anyway, you shouldn't use 'real' codecs for playback, just use ffdshow (ie CCCP) unless you have a reason to have real codecs (ie. you do encoding) as it generally causes more trouble than it's worth. ffdshow will play back pretty much anything without the need for codecs, so unless you have an ancient machine and need CoreAVC for 264 playback, stick to CCCP+MPC.

Also, DO NOT USE VLC. IT DOES NOT SUPPORT SOFTSUBS CORRECTLY. And as softsubs are becoming far more common these days due to groups growing a brain, you'll have issues. Same goes for other bullshit players like Gom and a few other new ones that have popped up lately.
