I don't really know, 8 episodes in and nothing like that has shown up, maybe someone who read the novel can shed some light on this, because I've got 0 clues

I think that the anime is vastly different from the source material. I made a post the other day saying the description giving makes no sense because no one close to makoto has died even though that's what the description says. The romance tag may be accurate for the manga but not the anime adaptation

Is there a way we can change the listed genres of the anime on this site? It’s highly annoying to find out that a lot of romance anime are never truly romance.

MAL mods put that there because the old live action tv show has a plot line with Makoto girlfriend but the anime obviously doesn't have that so they need to remove it

But anime don't adapt this arc

It turned out that I wasn't the only one who was stuck watching this because there was a romance genre. but I didn't get a single romantic moment in this anime.
