Are you scared to re-watch your "favorite anime" (if it's from a while ago)

I had only seen... maybe 20 or so differen't anime at the time I saw Clannad? So I wasn't really aware of anime tropes and such when I watched Clannad so I think if I watched it now my experience would be a little differen't...

That kind of makes me nervous to think about. Even though I'll still re watch some episodes here and there I don't think I want to do the whole thing.

I just started watching anime from a year and a month ago but I'll say I'm not afraid... Most of what I like back then, I've watched multiple times.(Shakugan no Shana (3x)and A Certain Magical Index/A Certain Scientific Railgun (4x)).

My experience is pretty much the same. I still enjoy the hell out of them. I would even re- watch it time and time again.

I just re-watched my all time #1, FMA Brotherhood, a few months ago. It's still my favorite anime.
So no, I'm not. I actually want to rewatch most of my favorites but I can't find the time or motivation to do so

I almost never rewatch tbh, I think I've rewatched Madoka once and still I think that's good, but well that's almost 5 months ago.

Nope. Re-watched Naruto twice already. Re-watched Monogatari. And pretty much most high rated anime in my list.

Nope. I don't have the reason to be scared. More like I want to rewatch them all over again if I don't have any anime left to watch.

What? Scared of what?

I've rewatched anime on my favorite list several times and would do it again if I have time to spare.

Not at all. If I recall correctly, I have re-watched the original Fate/Stay Night twice already and was still amazed at the world-building that originally hooked me into the franchise. It is also refreshing to see Sakura's first appearance all over again.

I'm planning to re-watch LOTGH at some point as well, but I imagine it will be quite the hassle.

I only scare to re-watch cause it's too long like one piece or naruto even though I re-watch naruto for like 10 times (they are somehow on my tv every time I open it) and now it's happening with OP

Not at all. My bias will let me enjoy it, even if I know it isn't as good as what I first thought. Akame ga Kill certainly dropped in my rating now that I've been rewatching it, but I still really like it despite its flaws.
It's an entirely different kind of flying, altogether!

Not that I'm "scared" to watch, but I am not yet emotionally stable to watch 5CPS again. Hearing the song One More Time, One More Chance already makes it hard to hold the feels. Other than 5CPS, I would surely enjoy rewatching my faves again

5CPS is the exact opposite for me. I've re-watched it 5 or 6 times. Can't get enough of it! But when I watched the first time, I feel my tastes in anime were more established.

On the downside basically everything i've seen after 5CPS has been worse. Ehh Win some, lose some.

I honestly don't see how could that happen lol, because rewatching makes me appreciate the anime even more each time I do it.

Actually yes.
I haven't re-watched any anime yet but now since I'm much more experienced than I was say a year ago I might not like some of the things I liked back then.

Not long ago I just discovered something I saw on TV as a little kid was anime so I was surprised and decided to watch it again, it was so awkward but at the same time it was like "man those were the days"

5CPS was the first one I gave a 10. Art was fantastic. Story was dramatically great. Dunno, but that anime made a huge impact since maybe it reminded me of someone so much lol

Heck yeah I'm scared rewatching all of my favorite shows. It sucks because after I watch them, I want to watch them like 50 more times but I know that if I do, the show will lose its charm and I'll eventually get sick of it.

Not really. Sometimes, when I rewatch some of my favs, now I notice the foreshadowing of some scenes, I revive the funny moments, the epic scenes...

For the more long animes, I only rewatch my favorite scenes.

So basically am I scared to re-watch it for criticism? No, I criticized all of my favorites, which is why none of them is a solid 10. There are a couple of shows I liked that I must re-watch for criticism (Hell Girl being one of them). I'm not scared, because I'm a critic. It's what I do.

Nope, I am a big time re-watcher of shows that both my wife and I like. While they may not be in my top ten I re-watch One piece, Naruto, Bleach and Blood+ with my wife every year. Actually, with One Piece my wife and I do not watch it weekly but wait until a new arc is finished and then start from the beginning, every time.

Recently she has started to branch out and watch other anime. Currently she has decided to give Natusme Yuujinchou and while she thoroughly enjoys it she can only watch a few episodes at a time. English being her third language it is sometimes tiring for her to read subs for a long period of time.

For her, more so than me, re-watching is quite habitual and enjoyable.

It depends on the show.

I plan to rewatch shorter shows like Madoka/Kill la Kill/Steins;Gate in the future, but longer stuff like Fullmetal Alchemist is a bit more of a challenge(I don't need to though since I rewatch scenes from FMA and FMA:B constantly.)
every single one of my forum posts is dumb and invalid except for 1, I don't claim them it was a different person it was all fake

I find that interesting as I am the opposite, which might be due to the fact that most of the shorter anime I watch are slice of life. With few exceptions, for me, SOL are a one and done kind of thing.

No, I might rewatch some stuff one day but I really want to watch more new shows instead or just watching the same stuff over and over again.

I know some shows might seem not as good now during a rewatch though, sometimes what you thought was good at one time doesn't seem so good later after seeing better things. Like I tried rewatching the show Happy Days when a channel started repeating it over here the other year, I'd watched it on repeats as a kid and thought it was hilarious, I couldn't get past season 1 this time. It just doesn't seem as funny by today's standards, it barely made me crack a smile.

Slightly.

I've rewatched Elfen Lied, and I liked it just as much as I remember liking it the first time I watched it... So I think there's no biggie as long as I wait long enough in between rewatches. I am slightly scared of being even more frustrated of non-closed endings though, which some of my favorites have......

Not at all... If the qualities of my favourite anime are really solid to be on my #1, it has to remain being solid when I re watch, with more knowledge, different perspective, and looking deep on details to remain my #1.

Nah, it wouldn't be my favorite anime if I can't re-watch it even after many years has passed. My favorite anime is Full Metal Alchemist (2003) I've watched it a lot of times but until now I still think of it as the best.

But this kind of thing happened to me after re-watching Kodocha. Although I still think of it as one of the best, I still can't help but wonder... how did I end up watching the whole series with those cheesy fillers.?

I used to think rewatching was a waste of time, why not spend time watching something new instead?

The simple answer is you should definitely rewatch something you enjoyed. I believe that a great piece of work should not lose its value on rewatches. There might be a tiny exception for comedies that rely on unexpectedness but other than that you should be able to enjoy something as much as you did the first time, if not more. If you don't, then the simplest explanation is that you probably overrated it on your initial watch, or your tastes might have changed, both of which are things you shouldn't be afraid to face.

I've really changed my taste since I started watching and I'm sure I'm wouldn't like Clannad as much if I watched it now and I don't really care, I will eventually rewatch it. You lose favorites but you get new ones. Don't feel like you NEED to like something.
