So you want me to choose?

I'll choose a Tomboy if I want a girl friend (not girlfriend) and if I want to have conversations about boys stuff

I'll choose a girly girl if I want to date her or just typical casual conversations.

I remember I had a tomboy friend back when I was in Gr. 2.. Oh how we got along so well....

It's latter*

I'd say not fully tomboy, but tomboyish girls are usually more confident, which is attractive, so those.

Tomboys, just because I fit into that "category" more than "girly girl". I'd say I'm mostly somewhere in the middle though, just lean more towards the "tomboy" spectrum.

Tomboy. At least in terms of behaviour. When it comes to looks the distinction is less important.

Ideally somewhere in between. If it was a choice between the two, tomboys are more fun to be around than girly girls.

Tomboys, no contest.

Emo girls can be pretty hot, though I'm not into that scene too much. She just needs a cool attitude.

Badly and with sweeping generalisations.

Tomboys:
- lean more towards interests that traditionally fit male gender stereotypes and surround themselves by things that may or may not be female orientated.
- They are also more care-free about their appearance, will wear jeans and a sweat top.
- Tend to hate pink and pink things.
- Tend to be 20 minutes early for the date
- Thinks Die Hard is a masterpiece
- Chooses a Labrador

Girly girls
- lean towards interests that traditionally fit female gender stereotypes and surround themselves by things that are female orientated.
- They are prone to preening themselves like its a fine art and wouldn't be seen dead outside wearing casual clothing.
- Tend to love pink and have a widespread collection of pink things.
- Tend to be an hour and 20 minutes late for the date
- Has never seen Die Hard
- Chooses a chihuahua

[i]This isn't entirely serious although it does more or less describe the general difference. Feminine v masculine leanings and carefree about feminine appearance v takes feminine appearance very seriously.

But what is considered feminine differs by culture and time. There are some trends in common but its not universal.

well a girly girl is a very American, British, Western European thing isn't it? They're just loose stereotypes anyway, I wouldn't try to give them any kind of thought beyond tongue in cheek stereotypes because people tend to be varying shades of different things. It literally just means "laddish" or "feminine" in either extreme. What the individual traits are varies greatly.

Even in the west things change all the time. Blue used to be a girls colour instead of pink prior to the 1940s. Also little boys used to be dressed up in dresses.

True, but I think the gauge is adapted to fit whatever is current at the time. In the western world we tend to lend trends off of each other so we are relatively similar in those terms.

Tomboy 'cause l fit more in the tomboy category although sometimes l find myself being a bit of a girly girl. For example some days l feel like wearing dresses and skirts or liking cute/pink things.

This. I've always preferred girls that are a bit more tomboyish in personality, not overly so, but falling more on that side of the spectrum than girly. But I also like a girl who's into wearing girly clothes. When it comes to their appearance, I don't really mind either way, short hair can look nice for example, especially bob cuts, but I also like long, straight hair. What matters more is them not going overkill on makeup and stuff.

I'd prefer a girl who falls in the middle (normal). I don't really talk to girls much anyway, but it's easiest to converse with normal girls who aren't super popular and feminine but also don't act like a guy. It seems like most girls wear jeans although the "girlier" girls seem to wear leggings. Girls will rarely wear skirts and dresses, although the frequency doesn't appear to increase with how girly I think the girl is. Girly girls tend to wear girlier skirts and dresses on the occasions that they choose to wear them. Girly girls are also more likely to wear too much makeup. Athletic girls don't seem much less "girly" than average.

I don't really like either, but I prefer tomboys.

Tomboys, more things in common.
