 The 2015 award list for the 8th edition of Manga Taisho, the annual Japanese Manga Award, has been announced. The award is decided by a panel of bookstore clerks who select the best title from manga series which are relatively new (have published less than 8 volumes) and have released at least one volume in the last year. | Kakukaku Shikajika obviously wins by a large margin when it comes to pure sophistication and artistic value. I mean seriously, this series is almost like a visualized poem. The air of sentimentalism and touching mood that the series is able to consistently build up on each chapters is also huge plus. It also helps that the characters are so human. With all their minor errors and failures. One can easily relate to that. But when it comes to pure entertainment value, it's Boku no Hero Academia for me. Why? Because it's a shounen with highly relatable protag, well-timed humor, lots of asskicking and explosions, and endless stock of hot blooded characters. |
