| I'm pretty sure there a few spoilers so it is best to leave it till after you've read or watched the main series. I think you can appreciate it more by doing that as well since it gives you more insight on characters that appear later in the series. |
| You don't necessarily need to read the novel to watch the show or read the manga. Although it serves as a prequel to the main series, the story itself doesn't have much to do with Death Note's plot. It's only mentioned in volume 2 of the manga. However, I recommend you read it later on if you can. The story concentrates on a serial murder case in Los Angeles which L and a certain FBI agent tackles together. Also, the author of the novel is NisiOisiN, renowned for Monogatari Series. I myself need to read it though. |
