everything in the title. are the stories the same? I suppose HxH (2011) has better animation and art. Since I'm not a fan of old anime, HxH (2011) should be the one I want to watch, but I don't feel watching a 148 episodes anime right now. Do both anime follow the same story? Is one more detailed? I'd love if you guys could answer these questions. Thanks in advance.

So the 2011 version has more content than the old one? Does anything happen major happen in the old version?

Right now I think I'll watch the 2011 version.

I'm someone who usually likes old anime, but I cannot help but think that some people choose de 1999 version for hipster or nostalgia reasons more than anything else.

While I don't think the 1999 version is bad, I feel the 2011 version is much more superior (and covers more).

Has more content, and Chimera Ants arc (which isn't covered by the 1999 version) is, at least for me, easily the best one of the series so far.

well besides the fact that the 2011 version has more content it also stays true to the manga a lot more.
but like listbot said.. both versions aren't done yet because the manga is still ongoing but constantly on hiatus.

Definitely not the hipster kind. Made up my mind. starting 2011 right now. Thank you.

i personally had a reaaaally hard time getting into the chimera ant arc at first.but once i finished the first few episodes up in the 80's it began to be a lot more enjoyable again. i actually thought i'd have to drop the anime because the pacing suddenly felt so off.

I can agree on the fact that it's slow. It has a lot of building, but I think everything pays off from the moment they start the "assault" (won't say more so I don't spoil)

I don't mind spoilers, I actually like them. I look forward to the moment it actually happens. And sometimes it has benefits.

It's not a spoiler anymore, but if you're not up to date with One Piece and don't like spoilers, you might not want to continue reading.

I started reading the mange (again) when I read that Sabo was actually alive. Now I read the scans and prefer it a lot more.

I didn't bother watching the 1999 version. The 2011 version seems to be much more liked on this site and covers significantly more content than the 1999 version.

I would say watch the 2011 version, it covers the Chimera Ants arc.

I recommend seeing the first episode of the 1999 version before the 2011 adaptation, the first chapter was skipped in 2011 version and a character that would show up much later was first introduced in that chapter.

Both are fairly loyal to the manga with negligible differences, like different colors and alternate scene but nothing major is skipped. But still 2011 has better art.

The 1999 version stopped at the end of Greed Island arc (equivalent to episode 75).

Thanks. Right now I'm starting episode 26 of the 2011 version. Might watch 1999 in a few months tho.

Tip though, wait a considerable amount of time before starting 1999 or it'll be boring (watching the same story retold in a different way)
