i love Stenchcore. lots of people who are actualy familliar with some the those bands arn't even familiar with the genre, gets labeled crust punk or death metal a lot.
don't really mind it. but funny when you talk to them about it and they get confused.
the genre is mainly just the really metal influenced crust punk, drawing mostly from death metal. bands such as Deviated Instinct, Hellbastard, (early) Bolt Thrower and Corpus Vile.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-aSUrTlwbI

but theres also heavyer bands out there who also draw influences from doom and sludge (mostly american instead of UK like the others in mentioned).
i prefer those the most. bands like Skaven, Misanthropic, Carol Ann and Like Flies On Flesh.

i can't consider pirate metal a genre. just like viking metal, its just the lyrical themes.
when i first heard the term pirate metal it was about Alestorm, they are just power metal with folk infuences. and for instance Running Wild (who as far as i know never indentified as ''pirate metal'' anyway, but get thrown into it too these days) are speed/power metal.
just like must of these viking bands are melodic death or folk metal (or both)

sorry for being and asshole, it's just how i (and probably a lot of others) think about it.
it's still not the first time it happened, like i already metioned the viking stuff, then there is also Macabre who claim ''murder metal''. and there are probably loads of other cases out there.

You should post your favorite trancecore song, so i can get a good feel for that genre as a whole.

I guess the most obscure thing I like would be Hardstyle, but it's grown in popularity over the years.

You don't hear too much about "Skiffle" these days, so I'm assuming it's a lesser known genre.

If it counts as an actual genre, easycore. Stuff like New Found Glory, A Day To Remember, Chunk No Captain Chunk etc that mixes pop-punk with hardcore.

No, it doesn't. I'll break it down with this post as an example. Real genres:

but speedcore is an actual respected genre, and has been for a long time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOhHR6Jv2MM
i have to admit it can get confusing with how close it is with terror a lot of the time. mainly just the speed diffrence. so i do understand where you're comming from.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SkIMq-OzOk (terrorcore)
it's easier to hear the diffrence when you listen to older terror tracks since these days both genres are really merged into eachother, creating lots of confusion. (some speedcore does have lots of melody. those tracks are clearly not Terrorcore. M1dy is a great example)

i can also see witchhouse as a genre, its pretty distinctive. but not to familiar with this stuff.

Shitcore is just some shitty speedcore/breakcore/grindcore hybrid. might be considerd a genre, but its just shit (like the name states already..), so i want to agree with you here.
only respectable artist to ever intentify itself as such is Passenger Of Shit, but is still mostly viewed as a Speedcore/Breakcore producer, and not even that good.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJc49L6jVpo
Do enjoy this track

J-core is indeed not a genre, it's just refering to multible styles if electronic music from japan. hate people using that since it's very unspesific, you cant even know if someone is talking about hardstyle or terrorcore.. (or Happy hardcore, breakcore, speedcore, techno and even eurodance kinda stuff)
and then come all the westenr producers that just throw some anime samples in there and suddenly get labeled j-core too (such as Round Wave Crusher)..

and symphonic deathcore i wouln't know, never heard of it before. sounds shitty tbh.

where are you guys from that Hardstyle is considered a Obscure or even lesser known genre? thats unimaginable for me. over here it has been one of the leading electronic music genres for maibe the last 8 years. since the big change in sound it made around 2006.

I know what you're thinking, punk. You're thinking "did he fire six shots or only five?" Now to tell you the truth I forgot myself in all this excitement. But being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world and will blow you head clean off, you've gotta ask yourself a question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?

you're wrong.

gizter13 already told about shitcore which shitwank records and passenger of shit represent.

symphonic deathcore is a sub genre of a sub genre .bands like make them suffer are symphonic deathcore.
j-core is japanese happy hardcore[I think? it's not a proper genre though ] and witch house is a genre like paul de laek and others but then again i'm not sure what it is lol.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROyw4J6NrH0 this is like the only shitcore track I listen to weekly. shitcore isn't a proper genre though.

I look at these names of supposed genres and can't believe they're real.

I guess for me Trap and Glitch Hop are the only real obscure genres I can think of. If they are even obscure I don't know.

Debussy is popular, but people only know one Ravel piece, and it's one of his worst (still kind of cool though). Also, most people probably don't know of the actual style as you say. It's all just 'classical'.

It has to represent a distinct form of music. Imo, not every mish mash of washed out synths and samples deserves a genre (and therefore 'witch house' is not a real genre).
