If you like Clannad, these kind of creatures could make you sad too.

All of the answers given are either lies/jokes or broad answreers.

In Clannad it gets sad around episode 6. Then later it becomes happy. in Afterstory, it gets sad around episode 9 or so, episode 16 being the worse by far.

When you realize you watched an entire season of buildup
Like... just blow up the entire world with that much buildup/exposition.
It's natural for a person to deny he's a failure as a human being. That's why he searches for somebody who is more miserable than himself. That's why so much animosity exists on the internet. Those who aren't able to find a more miserable person, turn to the internet and call other people losers, even though they've never met. Just to make themselves feel superior. isn't that pathetic? There's a sense of security that comes from speaking badly of someone else. But that isn't true salvation. — Tatsuhiro Satou

Depending on what kind of person you are, season one has a few sad moments, like in the Fuko arc. In after story, it starts around episode 17-18.

I find people put too much emphasis on the "one" sad scene in Clannad, and neglect the drama the course of episode 5~15 provided.

I mean, how sad is it if all everyone talk about in Death Note is
[spoiler]
Kira's death, but completely ignores the build up, mind games, emotional struggle of Kira's dad, as well as the murder of Naomi

I found the arc surrounding Fuko in the original quite sad personally and it was pretty early one I think episodes 7-9 (just looked them up cause you wanted numbers) where the first instance in Clannad that made me tear up.

Call me heartless, but honestly i couldn't get sad over Clannad. I simply couldn't take the series very seriously. Clannad S1 in particular was not only melodramatic but dis-jarring. One moment there is goofiness and slapstick comedy going about and the next moment it turns really melodramatic and the audience is supposed to feel sorry for some ghost or violin girl. Unfortunately, that's not how my brain processes. S2, on the other hand, was less disoriented but felt more emotionally-manipulating for me, as if trying too hard to make the viewers cry and i really am not fond of that kind of bawfest melodrama.

Something like True Tears, EF, and White Album 2 are the ones that can genuinely make me sad.

It's ratings on the site, and on JPN sites prove the complete opposite.

I'm quite sure it wouldn't have 9.16 if they were a minority..

anyways @OP I'd say about halfway through AS or so, ep 16 is when it starts for real

In General Anime Discussion on MAL? Hell yes.

I make a difference in which I can actually speak for what my eyes see rather than what conventional hipster brigades tell others to think.

OT: I started getting sad around Kotomi's arc for Clannad 1, absolutely loathed Fuuko's shit. AfterStory was icing on the cake though. But WA2 > Clannad in terms of sadness

Fuko's arc in S1 made me cry. fuck that shit. Clannad, including AS, ain't even sad.. y'all feel me? 'cause whenever I bash something that is popular among plebs.. it makes me feel better about myself. Like most of the people here.

They how high do you believe it to be? 9.40-9.70
Is it really that perfect that you can watch and watch again and still cry?
You? maybe.
Me? I just want to forget it as another mediocrity and disappointment, since I share @Amiluhur's opinion towards the show.

Fascinating. So much hate everywhere~

In retrospect I liked Kanon 2006 better than Clannad.
Clannad After Story tops everything though.

Don't know what point you're trying to make, but all I'm saying is that the show wouldn't be as high-rated as it is (55.2% 10/10s, think that's the 2nd highest on MAL after HakoMari) if only the minority found it sad. What you or me may think about it is irrelevant.

@HaXXspetten
Just for the sake of clarity and cohesion.
By vocal minority I meant the forum users who express their issues with Clannad(and is brought up due to the hype behind it).
You thought I was talking about the viewers that liked it, which are obviously the majority.

Honestly, they weren't really sad. Just drama. Even episodes 17-18 or whatever weren't the saddest but they stood out in the series.
