I've seen a 35-second clip of this online, taken from a news report when it was found... however, does anybody know if there is the full 2-minute version available to watch anywhere?

No, no one has seen it yet IIRC. It might not even be released yet. They might have only shown that clip as a part of that news report.

The longest restored version seems to be 4 minutes long, as part of the National Project for the Sustainability of Born-Digital Cinema (2016)?

Ah, so it was converted and restored and is screened in the museum? That's pretty cool. :)

Edit: Ah, wait, I managed to find it on a website titled "Japanese Animated Film Classics", which hosts a bunch of archival footage of antique Japanese animation.
Not sure if I'm allowed to link to it, but it seems to be an official site affiliated with the museum, not some illegal streaming site. Definitely look it up if you're interested in classic Japanese animation like this. :)

Yup, that's where I watched it! I got the link from one my teachers.
I do have some interest in early Japanese animation so it's quite a good find! :D

Looks like the video archives have been officially released to the public, including the full 4-minute version of Nakamura Gatana. Available to the public here: http://animation.filmarchives.jp/works/play/100183
