So I was wondering how does the staff go about handling this?

There are quite a few sex clubs on MAL, and I've reported two already, one of them was a couple of months ago and it is still there. I mean don't get me wrong, I'm sure the staff have enough to handle but getting rid of sex clubs is pretty damn important. Not following the PG-13 rating is one thing, but you have to know that not all the members in these clubs are at least eighteen-years-of age. Fact one of them, the owner's profile says they are eleven!

I mean that's quite the legal liability that MAL has to contend with, so it seems like Report Club should be taken with a bit more haste, right?

*shrugs*

Anyway, the two I was referring to are:

http://myanimelist.net/clubs.php?cid=15348">http://myanimelist.net/clubs.php?cid=15348]http://myanimelist.net/clubs.php?cid=15348
http://myanimelist.net/clubs.php?cid=14413">http://myanimelist.net/clubs.php?cid=14413]http://myanimelist.net/clubs.php?cid=14413

There is cyber sex going on in both of the forums of these clubs, that just isn't acceptable, not to mention a huge legal liability.

You're going to have to be a bit more specific in why you believe these clubs are legal liabilities. When I say specific I mean lists precedents, anecdotes, or even specific laws pertaining to this issue. The way the rules on MAL are designed, as long as it remains text and not images for the most part and is tucked away in these clubs where those people who join it know very well what they're getting into, this is perfectly fine with how the rest of the internet goes including other social networking sites that have to deal with similar problems.

We do not provide this content for the users to view, nor are users unable to avoid viewing the content (unlike NSFW pictures on a forum thread), these users provide it for themselves, we cannot shield users from themselves, we can only shield them from other users. Therefore in no way would we ever be held accountable in a court of law.

As for a report club feature itself, that does already exist...

How do you figure? You are allowing this to occur on this site, and not taking action to remove clubs that violate U.S. law. MAL is VERY liable in that account.

You do realize that doesn't necessarily hold water in a court of law right? Especially against something the U.S. government is so fervent about. MAL has a responsibility to remove content like that, no ands, ifs, or buts.

I'll try to be clearer, since you don't seem to understand; please give some kind of proof that this is against the law.

Kei basically said in his post that talk about sex, as long as it stays text, is still considered PG-13 and therefore perfectly legal. So go and prove him wrong. If you know of any examples (like a case where a site was sued for something like this in the past) or any other kind of proof that this is illegal from a credible source, we'd definitely like to see it. ^_^

Because it isn't implicity illegal or legal. It is up to the individual states whether cyber sex (or sex talk with minors) is illegal. Even if you managed to weasel out of that it is still ridiculous to just sit there and turn a blind eye to minors engaging in cyber sex.

Do you guys seriously take no damn responsibility for this site? And don't pull the crap that "we're just allowing our users to do as they please within reason." That goes beyond reason, and just to the point of being lazy and not taking action against something of questionable legality.

Like the ToS say, MAL operates under Californian law. Again, if you can prove in some way that this is illegal (under Californian law), we'll be more than happy to ablige.

Look, if we're banning something without any good reason, it would just be because out of personal preference. Next thing will be banning all talk about drugs, because it might make people want to try it out. Or maybe we'll have to ban the SOL brigade, 'cause that's just a breeding ground for pedos. Or heck, we can't talk about pokemon, 'cause that's animal abuse.
This may sound ridiculous, but I hope you understand what I'm getting at.

I personally don't like the cybersex clubs either, but you'll need a better reason than "it's questionably legal." Unlike popular belief, we don't ban things and people 4 da lulz.

So you'd rather have me or someone else dig around to verify if California is one of the states in which cybersex with a minor is illegal rather than just assuming for something as typically looked down upon in the United States as such?

Whatever, I'm getting agitated and getting further from trying to be constructive rather just pissed off, so I'll drop it for now.

One way would be to hide the club and/or have a proper warning sign before you enter it.

(oh...just...there are 13 and 14 year olds on there... it's not right... reading lemons is one thing, but engaging/roleplaying, if you could CALL it roleplaying, is another..)
