I fill my brain with a lot of information to forget about a spoiler. (It kinda works sometimes xD)

When a friend is trying to spoil to me, I put my fingers on my ears, saying: I´m not hearing anything. Kinda Childish but it works.

Clannad Afterstory was one that was spoiled for me a year after I even bothered watching it. Despite that, it still become one of my favorite anime shows. I knew what was coming, yet I still couldn't prepare (those of you who have seen it know what I mean).

Preventative medicine comes first. Of course.

After that, I use repression.

Haven't had any major spoils though, thankfully.

I try to forgot the information by doing something fun that will take my mind off it. Or try to make up false theories in my head of why that spoiler can't come true.

Most of my anime are action, so action is action because the main protagonist always wins at the end.
But if it's mystery. *Loads shotgun*

Every anime i watched i spoiled it by looking at the ending. it makes the story better imo. It's the only reason why i could have stomached school days.

I would put the anime away for some time till i forget its existence and get back to watching it later :). Not too sure that is a good idea though.

Spoilers, while quite sucky, are not a deal breaker for me. Usually I will occupy my mind with plausible situations for how they get to said spoiler, or meditate on how my expectations matched the execution.

I try to forget that i heard/read it. Pretend it was about something else.

I HATE spoilers

When it's inescapable however, i look on the bright side and feel a bit better knowing that i dont know WHEN this big spoiler happens.

I don't think about them and sometimes forget them. Like in Death Note.
Or if I can't forget them, then I just stop watching the anime for a while, trying to stop thinking about it. I sometimes forget too.

Sometimes spoilers help keep me motivated to continue watching shows which have a boring start but later a plot twist emerges near the middle or the end. Eg clannad

I was just browsing the forums on a certain website and I accidentally read a spoiler for an ongoing anime as of this season. I was so dam depressed because I already know the ending. Anyhow, I'm kind of beating myself for it but most of the time I still manage to enjoy anime even though it's already spoiled for me. For instance, Steins;Gate and Death Note are the only anime that has been spoiled for me.

So how do you cope after hearing a spoiler? Do you just try to forget about it? Times like these that I wish there was a device where I could just erase my memory for those crucial seconds after reading that spoiler oh man.

If i see a spoiler tag i'm compelled to read it, needless to say most anime is ruined for me but it doesnt stop me enjoying the journey.

I tend to avoid reading forums for shows that I'm currently watching, so most of the spoilers I've seen are for shows that I eventually plan to watch.

As soon as I come across one, I immediately try and preoccupy myself with another task (like go running or take a shower or read some news) to try and forget what the spoiler was and the show.

Unfortunately, Death note and Clannad were both spoiled for me, since my overenthusiastic buddy told me that
but I was still able to enjoy the overall story and the character's reactions to those events.

If it's in a forum, growl at the person that forgot to use spoiler buttons, and move on.

If it's otherwise, I spoiled it myself. Like reading all the Lite Novels for SAO between episodes 1 and 2.

Yes. I read fast.

Depends on the Anime really. If Its like a very emotion anime like Clannad: After Story and I hear spoilers, It wouldn't feel sad at all since you already know what is going to happen.

It's not always a bad thing. I would've dropped School days 2-3 episodes in had I not known the outcome. But, conversely, I don't think I would've enjoyed Madoka Magica as much if Homura's past had been spoiled to me.

If I ended up spoiling a moment in an anime I am watching, I just try to focus how the spoiler is executed. If the spoiler/event is handled well, I probably would be still satisfied with the show's plot anyways.

I didn't watch Death Note yet but I was already spoiled about a certain death in a certain episode some months ago. Sadly my memories for unnecessary things (for example spoilers) are really good and I would remember it even when I wait another year to watch it just when I think about it.
Well, I try to not focus on the spoiler and I avoid some pages/youtube videos.

The hardest part would be One Piece, though. I don't read the manga but I enjoy(ed) watching AMVs and reading the comments, discussing about it, but somethings people tend to write about manga stuff that still needs months until it gets into the anime.

This happened to me as well >_<
Usually end up watching whatever get's spoiled, its just that less impactful.

If you really want to fit in, just put Legend of the Galactic Heroes in your top 5 and have it be the only 10-rated anime in your list.

Eh , first time I've been spoiled is today. Amidst the realm of MAL. A "Death Note" spoil as well.
I grew acrimonious for I was never been troll'd by a mere oblivious fanboy exposing a lethal spoil without adding spoiler tags.
My memory is optional as any other data storage device. The only difference is that it is only plugged on "Write Only" mode. How ludicrous.

Someone said that the spoiler is not as primordial to the ongoing of the story though. For the common good of humanity , I hope he's right.
