| I've been around MAL for quite a while now and I'm usually interested in things like ranking and popularity because I often make anime quizzes and I find popularity useful for checking if there's something hugely popular that I overlooked and ranking if I missed some celebrated anime. Recently I came across a question about GenEiDen ranking. I have the impression of seeing this series at the top of ranking quite a few times. Then I found a couple of videos tracking MAL rankings way back from 2006 and it wasn't even listed among top 20. They probably used things like archive.org to track and using it myself, it really shows it being ranked up to #2 (when they used some other formula to list) but never at the top. Can someone who was long enough here to tell if I'm just recalling it wrong or if it was indeed at top at some point? |

| LotGH reached the top at some point, from what I saw in the #1 interest stack. I don't know when though. |

I think the best explanation for this is that Gigguk (an "Anituber" / YouTuber who talks about anime) released a video about why LotGH is amazing, and he has a pretty big following. It might've swayed people to actually consider the show for once, despite its old age and outdated animation.

| @Gabriel-kun I was thinking about way back, not in recent years. I got the strong impression it got at the top rankings and stayed there for a decent period, not just a few days or weeks. But can be just be me recalling things wrongly. |

| Those compilation videos only track certain shows. I've seen a few and more often than not they leave out LotGH. I've seen the show using wayback and it's usually in the top 5-10, I think it peaked at like 9.13 or 9.14 a decade ago? |
