A huge part of the reason I really enjoyed season 1 of this show is the humor. I enjoyed the humor in both the sub and dub. Like 5 episodes in it really feels like it's relying on the audience being already fond of the characters and the cute factor of Alas ramus. Season 1 was a comedy goldmine of fish out of water and working class relatable comedy. Alongside expressive comedic facial expressions. While season 2 has only done it with Ashiya like twice. Alas ramus herself also isn't a very interesting or unique child character personality wise. Especially compared to her contemporaries. All around this season has just been a disappointment for me. (I'm anime only btw)

I feel like they are trying to make it like a wholesome family show which has made the shoe less funny and more vanilla. I hope it picks up the pace and bring back the humour it had in the first season

As someone who loves S1 I could not agree more, the show lost its charm completely not only thanks to the bad art but the story is now completely somewhere else and is just boring imo, the cuteness aspect of Alas Ramus is not selling it for me and they have nothing else going on 5 episodes into the new season.

Completely agreed! I was laughing since the first episode in S1 but this season the comedy seems to have taken a back seat and all we're getting now is a cheap generic drama and that annoying brat to make it even worse, not to mention the absolute garbage animation that keeps getting worse with each episode.
It hurts me to say this but it would've been better for this anime to end with the first season

they made asciel and lucifer so unfunny, in season 1 they were so funny and this season it seems like they forgot the asciel stomach gag and lucifer NEET gag...

True the comedy went down by miles and exchanged with becoming a family series

I rarely get disappointed in anime but I agree, I only finished first seasons some time ago and I absolutely loved its humor, started second season just now but I feel like it already lost all the humor it had in first season :/

In my opinion, the novels also got less funny and more drama heavy (a lot of annoying drama though imo). So this sentiment isn't too surprising to me. As someone who likes SoL, Hataraku Maou-sama has a lot of boring SoL imo (though it starts out strong).

Yup, the art might be playing a role but the comedy definitely doesn't hit as hard as S1's. There's the childcare aspect but it's hardly enjoyable when you live in a Post-Anya world.

This is what happens when an anime releases a sequel nine years later. Anybody who watched the original sometime close to when it released is pretty much a completely different person by now.

I've experienced aging out of a series and this doesn't feel like that. It more feels the identity of the show itself has changed.

Heard the light novel strays away from the comedy
And more into drama/slice of life

They focused more on wholesomeness, rather then comedy I guess. Oh well, when you get lemons, you make lemonade.

Season 1 was never that funny, most people just watched it when they were kids/teenagers. You know, 9 years before.
You all need to watch Nami.

After very long time this is first anime I have dropped. It doesn't have either comedy or Scary-Demon-king aspect.

IMHO If they kept the comedy going it'd be fun to watch demons working at fast-food but by striping out comedy it became dull slice of life with bunch of people who can't either get a decent job or be proper demons, so they get everything taken away from them unless someone else steps in.

( Currently interested in OP MC genre. Recommendations are welcomed, preferable those yet not on my list )

Alright this is my opinion. I find chiho annoying considering she’s a high schooler in love with an adult. Im fine with Emi and Maou. I get irritated when chiho gets flustered around maou.

Don’t take it too seriously, as stated it’s my opinion. The show is great nonetheless.

Blame the source material. Because I'm sure the light novel was not as funny in that part compared to the events before it.
