Here you may fangirl over, obsess over, squee over, worship, talk about, praise, and love L Lawliet from the popular anime and manga series Death Note. With his unique quirks, brilliant genius, and incredible looks, L has captured our hearts. We are the ones that stalk him and buy huggable plushies of our favorite detective and t-shirts with L-sama on them, and are not ashamed of our obsessive love. We need some time set aside everyday to stare at L-sama's glory or we get headaches. We squee when we look at shmexy fanart and dream of being L's waifu. Leading the Kira investigation with his brilliance matched by none, he quickly tracks down Light as the prime suspect. L has many quirks, such as his unique style of sitting (he says that if he sits normally his powers of deduction go down by 40%). He also is constantly eating sweets or something sugary, and manages to keep his weight because his brain uses the most calories of any organ in the body. According to Tsugumi Ohba, story writer of the series, L is a quarter English, a quarter Japanese, a quarter Russian, and maybe "a quarter French or Italian? Something like that." In L: Change the WorLd, it is shown that L can speak several languages other than Japanese including Spanish, French, and English. Even Ohba and Takeshi Obata (artist of the series), when asked who was the most fun to draw, the both answered "L." Ohba says L was his favorite character, and that L is the "strongest" character in the series, "besides Light." Ohba conceived L as a "force of justice" and "super detective" who stands between Light and his goal.
