Crayon Shin-chan

Recommendation based only off dubs* Both took the original show and completely changed the script for the english dub. Both dubs are quite funny and somewhat inappropriate. If you liked the funimation dub of shin chan definitely check out the ADV dub of ghost stories.  

The funimation dub (and not the other 2 dubs) of Crayon Shin-Chan has the same type of off the wall dark humor that the infamous dub of Ghost Stories has, as well as the dated references and sarcastic edge. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure why more fans of high quality dark humor aren't aware of the funimation dub of crayon shin-chan. Unfortunately, only 80 episodes out of over 1000 (!!!) have been dubbed by funimation, but that's still considerably longer than what Ghost Stories got. So if you're looking to satisfy that South Park style of humor itch in your brain, the dubs of Crayon Shin-Chan and Ghost Stories should be on your list. read more 

Both contain main character as male child. Both have stupid characters. Both are comedy and slice of life. Both are about kids in a small warm family.The art style of both series is cartoony and unique. Both have main character with a unique. Many of the jokes in both series are occasionally weird, unnatural and inappropriate use of language, as well as they both have inappropriate behavior. 

Do you like perverted jokes and taboo humour? Then you'll like this shows. Ebichu being the more obscene one of the two, is, I warn you, drenched with blood, violence and pervertedness. Neverthless, I laughed out loud the whole show. Crayon Shin-chan is almost the same, only a bit more on the PG-13 side... 

Very similar absurdist childish comedy style. Both center around random antics and in particular those in relation to the characters peculiar lives, often exaggerating otherwise completely normal situations. Both are filled with characters who seem balls deep within the absurdity of their universe. Common sense does not appear to be anyone's forte in either series, other than the obligatory straight men (or straight women). Though the characters in Naruto SD are technically teenagers, their chibi appearances gives them a very child-like look. Shin-Chan is fully episodic, where as NSD has something of a continuity with characters and plots introduced which are referenced or continued later, but this is usually an exception rather than a rule. Being familiar with Naruto helps understand several jokes and plot points better, but it is not required to enjoy the series. read more 

The Main Character on both shows Shinnosuke and Hanada are similar in every aspect. Similar kind of comedy and same kind of dirty jokes. All the characters are literally same : a mischievous kid, a cute puppy as pet, a worried mother and a carefree irresponsible father. 

The misadventures of kindergardener Shinchan and gradeschooler Momoko (nicknamed Maruko) and their family are mostly easy to digest stories with great rewatchability. Both shows also have outstanding side characters and a very unique visual style. As time progresses both shows also lose their bite, with newer episodes lacking the impact old one's had. Shin-chan is a tad more straightforward and easier to get into than Chibi Marukochan, with the latter being partially based on the author's real life events and including some real tear-inducing scenes.
