They both share gorgeous futuristic societies, themes of rebirth, and lots of nudity. Some character designs are similar, but the main characters are polar opposites, with only looks in common.

A young cyborg girl is given another shot at life by the hands of a compassionate and talented individual (which serves as a kind of mentor or parental figure), and must fight to survive in a rather hostile environment, either due to circumstances ("Gunnm") or a troubled past ("MS"). Expect much action and crude violence, but some touching scenes as well: violence always brings its lot of suffering, which is well represented in both series. While "MS" has become fairly well known recently, "Gunmm" is a classic (especially the manga), a forerunner of the steampunk genre, and it deserves much credit.

Both series deals with a female protagonist who is not your typical or normal girl. Both anime composes of cyberpunk themes in a futuristic like setting. Both series contain action, sci-fi, and drama as well as some violence and strange mood throughout some scenes.

Both titles are of the cyberpunk genre and feature lavishly-designed futuristic worlds. The protagonists are young cyborg/technologically-enhanced women on a mission to unlock the clandestine reasons for their existences. These ladies have the capacity to be killing machines, yet through their experiences in a fateful partnership, prove they can love as well as they can fight.

Blood, immortality, mystery and action. Both have atmosphere very similar.

Character names are all connected references lacking any subtlety. Mardock Scrambles for egg references, Shisha no Teitoku for Western Literary canon references. Both equally disconcerting. They're also both quite self-absorbed in their philosophising but with excellent visuals. If you didn't mind how pretentious and pseudo-intellectual one was, be sure to give the other one a try, you'll probably be able to appreciate it more than I did.

Eggs. Eggs, heavy-handed symbolism/philosophising, dark atmosphere, and I guess depending on how in interpret it (in Angel's Egg) both deal with rape and the loss of innocence. There aren't exactly that many anime films/series that key in on the theme of eggs and their uses as an allegorical device as strongly as these two. So if you've watched either and though 'yes, the take-away message here is eggs and moody lighting, i want more of that', then the other is 100% for you. Mardock Scramble (hohoho) is a lot grittier despite the eggcellent selection of truly awful puns, it's quite gorey and brutal. Angel's Egg is just as  read more

Both anime have the protagonists becoming killers by twisted fate, and both are ultimately seeking their meaning in life.

Mardock Scramble is the modern version of Kite. Dark atmosphere, young prostitute (Sawa in Kite and Rune in Mardock) as a protagonist, well-directed and brutal action scenes, nudity and sex, revenge and love, blood and gore, et cetera.

These two shows are very similar despite the difference of the genre, they feel very similar, they have the same vibe, same atmosphere; dark and morbid. The Mc in both anime are troubled femmels each in her way. Both main villains are weirdly very similar.

Both about robots trying to fight enemies who are much bigger than them

They both have a teenage girl being turned into a weapon to save people, they both have a spirit like thing and the setting is kinda like a futuristic theme one more then the other also one is more darker.

Antagonist in each series believes he killed the protagonist, but his victim survives and wants revenge. Drama, Mystery and some Action in both series.

They have the same kind of animation by GoHands, the same character design and exactly the same way of coloring, beacuse both of them made my Shingo Suzuki. They have the same sci-fi setting with super powers, and a protagonist who has a little animal on his side, and the main characters face with enemies who are trying to kill theme.

These two anime felt very similar to me, although at first glance they would appear complete opposites. Both had the theme of death and transformation (Vampire/cyborg), the heroins both had a dark past, fantastical settings (cyber-punk/supernatural fantasy), lots of blood n' gore (plus other disturbing sights), fight scenes had the same style and direction (both had big guns and superhuman abilities) and they both had top-notch animation and good sound.

Mardock Scramble is very Ghost in the Shell - esque due to its dark atmosphere, its scientific elements and the main character as a female with a technologically advanced body of sorts.

Very similar in style, mood and setting. I find that Psycho pass has more in common with this than ghost in the shell. Psycho-pass focuses more on story while mardock focuses more on style.

Grim an gritty future. Warped, wicked wealthy folk considering lower classes as disposable entertainment, genetic engineering, bioengineering, monstrous violence and violent monsters. Mardock Scramble is more sexually explicit but it is there in Zetman as well.

1- Both series contains characters whose bodies are replaced/modified with cyborg components. 2- you can't help but feel sorry for the main characters suffering due to dark merciless world.
