Both shows are from the same studio, SHAFT, so they share quite a bit in terms of humour and style. Zetsubou Sensei has much more dark humor though, and a more distinct artistic style (in some ways similar to xxxHOLIC). Pani Poni Dash is a little more off-the-wall and random, and focuses quite a bit more on references to other anime and games and such.

COMEDY. Lots and lots of Japanese pop culture references in both. And there's also that one bit in Lucky Star that parodies Pani Poni Dash, and I'm sure that if Pani Poni was created after Lucky star it'd be the other way around.

The show has a similar type of humor that completely ignores Western viewer's taste, but rather relies on Japanese viewer's fondness of unpredictable humors. They both have a talking animal (Sakamoto-san and Mesousa), a chibikko sensei in a lab coat (Hakase and Becky), and a dumb energetic girl (Yuuko and Himeko). Both shows also have a very stylish OP theme with plenty of movement.

Both of these come from the same studio, so they have a lot in common... most noticeably the weird frog and the quirky sense of humor. It borders on being ridiculous, so I don't suppose it's for everybody, but if this sort of humor suits you then you're in for a treat.

If you liked one of these then you'll most certainly like the other. Both are filled with random, over the top humor that will make you laugh out loud but will also make you question the sanity of some of the characters as well. The layouts of each are also quite similar, using single episodes for stand alone plotlines that only really seem to come together in the last few episodes of the series. Mostly though, it's the sheer randomness of the characters and the comedy that really shows the similarities of both shows, with each comedic situation more outlandish than the last.

Created by the same person and produced by SHAFT. Hidamari has a few references to Pani Poni Dash as well.

it has a similar concept of a child becoming a teacher

If you've seen Pani Poni Dash, and loved it's unique style, then make sure you check out Akiyuki Shinbo's latest show Maria†Holic.

Both main protagonist's are chibi teachers and story revolves around school / comedy, but Pani Poni Dash! more funny than Sensei no Ojikan though =)

this anime, hyakko, has the same randomness pani poni dash does....i watched pani pooni dash first then a few months later found hyakko and loved it....hyakko doesnt have dubs..:(

Azumanga Daioh wasnt the regular school based anime, but Pani Poni Dash knocks it out of the feild in comedy and creativity. Azumanga Daioh had random moments and hilarious themes, but Pani Poni Dash is all round crazy, theres no telling what they can throw at you. Pani Poni Dash is based around an 11 year old girl, Rebecca Miyamoto, who is an MIT graduate. She returns to Japan to be a high school teacher at Momotsuki academy. Her class is crazy weird, with lots of interesting and not so rememberable characters. If you liked Azumanga Daioh, then TRUST ME, you NEED to see Pani  read more

A few references in Minami Ke refer to Pani Poni Dash. Both revolve around girls in grade school. Hilarity ensues in both shows as well.

Both are zany comedies that can be surprisingly cute and heartwarming when it wants to be. The main character of both shows are really cute and wears different cute clothes throughout the show. They also makes lots of references to rpg's, specifically Dragon Quest.

If you like random anime parodies, then PaniPoniDash surely is recommended for you! It doesn't have romance, is more a random-comedy, but is pretty funny, the better if you already have seen a lot of anime/manga so you can understand the jokes and references.

For more random humor, I'll say that you could check this one too~ Is pretty funny, with some suggestive jokes sometimes, but leaving that a side you won't stop laughing in every chapter.

The biggest commonality between Pani Poni and Tsukune has to be their fast-paced, eccentric, and unpredictable comedy. I'd say Pani Poni has a more colorful cast, but Tsukune's characters are still easy to enjoy. Although Tsukune is much shorter (6 episodes, 13 min each), the quality isn't affected. It crams all the goofiness of a Pani Poni episode into half the minutes!

Both anime have insane, joke-a-second pacing. Pani Poni Dash is so dense with gags that you have to watch it a couple times to catch everything, and it can honestly get a little exhausting at times. I feel like Komugi-Chan would be a good warm-up to get used to shows with that kind of spastic pace.

They have the same humour. Apart from the wallflower leans more to satire and Pani Poni leans more towards surreal humour. Pani Poni Dash is a very light-hearted and hilarious slice of life comedy that's fun and active. Whereas Yamato Nadeshiko is a shoujo anime but what makes it unique is the story and humour and it is hilarious and enjoyable.

stupid school comedy

They both have random comedy, antics, and a slew of characters and their own deal. Although, Pani Poni Dash has 23~24 minute long episode and a lot more conversation to keep up with.

Both are lighthearted comedy shows. Each has a central location of a classroom where the teacher character is a loli.

Similar random humor and direction quirks, like having text passing through the screen during scenes and showing different scribbles every time a blackboard appears, both directed by Shin Oonuma. They both also make Jojo references, though Paniponi Dash has so many references that that's only to be expected.

Comedies directed by Shin Oonuma, with constant use of far-out shots, and chibi versions of the characters randomly floating through the screen. One of the main characters of each show is a blond teacher called Becky who is voiced by Saito Chiwa, which may or may not be a coincidence.

They share a lot of very specific particularities, with a very similar style. The rooms are like theater sets, washtubs randomly fall from the sky, microphones appear above a character's head, with similar character and color design, and a random and referential sense of humor, more apparent in Paniponi.

Both are random and some of the scenes don't really make any since. But still funny and a joy to watch.

If you were the type that paused every 5 seconds to read the blackboard gags, or rewind to catch that flurry of jokes you missed; Seitokai no Ichizon has the same kind of rapid-fire comedy that it shares with Pani Poni Dash

You can find the same amount of randomness in both anime

Both are probably the funniest animes ever. I have never seen more 4-th wall breaking anywhere else. For the greatest effect start watching Azumanga Daioh, then The melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, then Lucky Star, then Kannagi(the last three are strongly connected), then go deeper in the universe of otaku with Genshiken(think of it as Lucky star after high school, at university), chill of with Sketchbook full color (similar to Azumanga Daioh), combine all of them into Pani Poni Dash, then go nuts with Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai, and top it off with Oh Edo Rocket, and enter the long run with Gintama. Other funny anime that I didn't find  read more

If you enjoyed all the slapdash Japanese-flavored pop culture trivia, then your next step is a no-brainer. Speeding along at the same diabolical pace with no mercy for stragglers, these two shows are made of the same parody extravaganza material.

An anime comedy involving high school girls

Think about your reaction to TTGL every time it would take your idea of logic and relieve itself on it. Think about how every episode seemed to go even further beyond the impossible and kick reason to the curb for the twentieth time. That's pretty much what Pani Poni Dash! does, except with how rapidly and blatantly it makes fun of and references everything. Anime, video games, western culture... it has a little joke on everything thrown in there, and the pace just keeps ramping up right until the end. Pani Poni Dash! = Azumanga Daioh + Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Paniponi is about class members that solve hilarious problems with random episodes. Same thing goes for Jewelpet sunshine

Both series are about a group of high school girls doing random things. The only thing is that I find Paniponi Dash! to be much better at executing the traditional formula. Bottom-line if you like Ai Mai Mi, then Paniponi Dash! should blow you away. Differences: Paniponi Dash! is much longer with twice the episodes and episodes that are about seven times longer than those of Ai Mai Mi.

That might look like a strange recommendation, but I really think they are pretty similar in one main aspect: Both share the same kind of "randomness" humor. So unlike "normal" comedy shows, a lot of unexpected stuff happens that would not even be possible in normal life in most cases. So if you like Gintama, you MIGHT also enjoy Paniponi Dash. It's pretty underrated in my opinion.

Both get into some of the most ridiculous (and hilariously odd) strange situations a school based comedy can offer.

Both anime do not try to even draw the characters you see in the background, but Pani Poni Dash does not even try to make them characters at all! Sometimes, they are even FRUIT. Aside from that, both deliver extremely random comedy, but Pani Poni Dash does it in a MUCH zanier and quicker fashion, hence the manga being called "Pani Poni" well the anime is "Pani Poni Dash" which implies that it delivers its comedy on its own pace, which they chose to be undeniably rambunctious and rapid. Pani Poni Dash also has a much more colorful cast of characters, with several classmates in all of  read more
