I think the similarities are overwhelming. Both mains are named Junichi, both have an "incestual" interest of the main with a sister that is not of blood relation, and both consist of a wide array of cast appealing to guys, from the "imouto" feel of Da Capo's Sakura, to the rich, snobby tsundere of Akane's Yuuhi. Take your picks.
Though, personally, the storyline of Da Capo is far more appeal, as too are the girls.
When I watched this I had strong feeling of Dejavu. Both the main heroes' name are Ju nichi as well. The animation quality was nicely done for both as well. Although some different in character design the characters from Akane-Iro give an oddly familiar feeling to that of Da Capo's cast as well, especially Minato (*cough* Nemu *cough*).
Both are based on H games, both have pretty similar main characters, both have rather interesting overtones. The way the plot flows for both series are also very similar.

This story is pretty same with Akane-Iro... Brother and sister living in same house...
The minor character is very likable...
Watch Canvas 2 and u can see it very same with Akane-Iro and u will enjoy it...
Both titles have the same "sibiling love" theme in it , with more or less the same relationship development from the begining, right to the very end of the two shows.
sister bro and lotsa girls

Similar plot, two girls have to marry an ordinary boy, but in Shuffle one of the girls is the princess from heaven and the other is the princess from hell.
All these girls( most wierder than the last) surrond this boy

High class rich girls interaction with the Main character guy after parents die or parents leave for a long time and is surrounded by many girls .
Both animes are similar for 'rich fiancee-so-sudden' romance with a twist of harem. And did I tell you that both of these animes are from a visual novel game?

School comedies, both have the heroine always shouting at the male classmate, and whom they're living with. Main heroine's seiyu is the same aswell, Rie Kugumiya :D
Both had the school setting.
The comedy and romance was there!
The discovery of feelings too, both were greatly executed and enjoyable.

Akane-iro ni Somaru saka is to Final Approach as DearS is to Chobits. In other words I forget which is which so can't really tell you much except they are so similar that they both merged into one anime [in my mind] after watching them.
These anime share the same plot, both the girls are rich, thay have to merry an ordinary guy and they transfer to his house

There are very fast and progressive relationships between guy and girl. Main heroine of the "Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu" is more likely moe, and main heroine of the "Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka" is typical tsundere. At last, main male heroes have the same voice actor)

The art looks similar and both are harem.

Both are silly harem anime's that aren't to be taken seriously.

Similar plot...
A succubus girl who is afraid of men is forced to live with a boy.
Many things in Akane-iro remind of Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun (especially the parents in Akane-iro and the brother/sister in G-sama N-kun)

the heroine of the story is surrounded by many girls.

The frequency of Risque scenes are about the same (Akane has Pantsu Shots while School days has.... Eroge scenes). The Love Triangle Aspect is very similar in terms of how the characters deal with it. The Main Character and Supporting Characters in both animies have the same Personalities if put side by side
